There is no end to genealogy this is a life long hobby and it still won’t be done.

I’ve been up until 2 or 3 am, myself, going down that rabbit hole. I’ve found interesting stuff along the way. But have new questions as someone changed something in the tree. Now I’m trying to locate documents.

Everyone in Louisiana is related to everyone else, at least they are in my tree.

My great grandfather sold his children when my great grandmother died. Because there were 10 girls, I was too scared to date anymore and find out they were one of the children of the girls that was sold. I seriously waited until my 20’s and married a (mostly) German descent with the last name Smith. Surely I won’t be related?!? Umm, his grandfather is my 5th cousin. You cannot find anyone you aren’t related to here.

Very interesting video and documentary about the journey genealogy takes you on, about finding things you knew nothing about that you thought how and why did these people I thought I knew not tell me. I have found many times with my genealogy research that you set yourself a stop off time, and even that may be 1am or 1.30am but when you get to that point something pops up that you feel you just can't leave at that, you just have to finish pulling that thread and recording it, because you think you might have forgotten where you were the next time you come back and miss something that was in your mind at that moment. Can I ask if you've contacted Daniella, it would be great to get an interview with her, and even though I know she's said she won't reveal her exact results in a video there are so many questions left unanswered from many of these videos. It would be amazing to see some kind of collab, even if it isn't a series like some of your previous ones, even a one off would be amazing to see. I have mentioned in some comments on her videos a while back about doing this so I hope it is a possibility at some time in the future.

I’m Louisiana Creole, most came post deportation of the Acadians. I would love to say that it’s our education system that failed, but I can’t deny that I had no interest in history until I started doing genealogy. I was very lucky to have 2 cousins who are genealogist, one of them is extremely knowledgeable about DNA. When I ask about why my ethnicity estimates don’t make sense, she says that too many focus on these test that really doesn’t help much, they use FTDNA and these tests don’t change like MyHeritage or Ancestry. So I need a test that answers the questions that are most important to me. Like Ancestry having a larger number of people who test, so more matches but I’ll mainly see American. I tested with My Heritage (I can’t be certain which channel spoke on it being a great place to test if you’re mostly European), but after seeing my results, I’m more confused. I ordered a test with Ancestry, I just haven’t done it yet. There are some lines I have found were German. Some were Quebec, so not Acadian. I think I seen one had Belgium. But majority of my verified trees were Acadian. My DNA focused cousin did the more in depth tests and confirmed that I am majority descended from Acadians. Not knowing world history, I am wondering if you can understand why I have 45..4% Iberian, 31.8% English, 11.7 East European, 5.5% Balkan, 3.1% Irish/Scottish/Welsh and 2.5% Ashkenazi Jew. Is there a time where my ancestors would be migrating far back in time and it show up on a DNA test? I haven’t gone past 1500. But if it’s not showing my native-Amerindian, how is it showing these other places? Oh and I did find someone from Malta. But it’s 1 person I am a direct descendant. DNA is so hard to understand

I love white passing stories. They tend to be so deep and unfortunately raw. The bravery, escaping and defying evil, surviving and thriving, never being found out, but the loneliness though, how horrific. And yes of course those stuck in the horror is a nightmarish situation because there is no escape, which is why they are harder to sit through.

My first cousins and I are mark as first cousins on ancestry but they are marked as each other’s second cousins. How’s that even posible?

Hi, there was mention that Lola had Mexican DNA, from Northern Mexico in one of her videos. Why is there no more info of her Mexican background in the rest of her videos? Curious? 🥸
@ProfessionalGenealogistReacts Жыл бұрын
I don't remember that part but that would likely be her Native American ancestry.
@annettemedrano3874 Жыл бұрын
Correct. I have a similar background as far as LA, Texas and Northern Mexico. My grandmother was born in LA, her father born in Northern Mexico. He was full indigenous Coahuiltecan from Coahuila. My % of Native American is 40%, 10 % black and the rest portugués. My family is of LA, Texas and Northern Mexico. Curious what is their % of Native American by way of Mexico? The item used for tamales looks like what was used in Mexico. Love the series…
