What would someone have done in 1987 to find rolling stock for the newly released Märklin 3333, BB20011 prototype?

I have the Lima and Jouef versions of the BB and love these odd looking units. They are the "Winnebagos" (motor homes) of the rails. I looked up the Marklin 3333 on ebay and found these are typically 100+ Euro now, a far cry from 35 Euro. I know that ebay is inflated, but I was surprised by how high the asking price generally was.

Marklin locos keep a higher resale value over time, you could call this the marklin tax.

I like these coaches. A tip, try the 3325 from märklin. The orange of that Loco, goes perfect with the jouef orange. If you don't have this loco in the collection, you'll never know what the future will bring. 😉

After checking I haven't the 3325 yet, I have the 3321. Better color match indeed, but I am not sure the vb2n coaches were used with BB7200. Something to investigate when I get one. Thanks for the tip and the visit, much appreciated.

@@The3rdRail only occasionally, but it's all about the impression. The 3333 in combination with vb2n coaches was also not in regular service.

Great video. Agreed long rolling stock and R1 curves can be a challenge. Other companies can be a challenge also. I am thing about selling some SBB Lima and Roco that I bought very cheaply and replace it with all Marklin.

Hi, we recently purchased this loco and as you told not only the yellow paint is different from coaches but have you also noticed that the drawing on the package has inverted of 180° both pantographs? Isn't it also weird? Keep going and best regards!

I hadn't, but the tooling is the same as the earlier 3325 and 3326 that had pantographs configured the other way. I guess they just used the same artwork for the box with only minor changes to numbers, so the model has inverted pantographs 😀

They're scale length cars 1:80 instead of 1:100 like Marklin and Lima and jouef junior. Thats why they are so long.

I am surprised you don't have problems with the large lanterns of the old turnouts. I remember that the Jouef cauches hit them because thos old lanterns are too high.

If french automatically Jouef or France trains, or lima if no french stock is available in your era or preferred brand, If no Italian stock Rivarossi.

Better color match indeed, but I am not sure these vb2n coaches were used with BB7200s in Béton livery. Something to investigate when I get one, thanks for sharing.
