It's true - I have a superpower! And fun fact, YOU DO TOO!
One of the many things life coaching allows me to do, is to work with my fellow humans to discover their strengths and explore their weaknesses - And often, those two are connected. Navigating through life, we are often convinced by the world around us that we are held back and restrained by what makes us different. (But I question that perspective.)
I will admit, I once believed what made me different was indeed holding me back. . Growing up I believed my inability to read and write at "grade level" was a learning disability. As in, there was something wrong with me and that meant, I cannot (and never will) be "normal." Although it was "just about reading and writing" the box it put me in made me believe I was "less-than" in comparison to my peers.
It is important to note, I do not blame the system or any particular person for how I viewed myself. In hindsight, I recognize a lot of my believing I was "less-than" was all in MY head. It was my perspective of myself. Yes, there were instances that occurred in my youth that reinforced the negative perspective I had, but I also see a lot of it was just me being very hard on myself.
Once I saw the truth, that my dyslexia was my superpower, there was no stopping me!
What's your superpower?
