I've lived in MT since 1993. I LOVE it. But I do miss having a garden. Growing season here is so short you need a green house. Enjoy our beautiful state.

That makes perfect sense, so long as the bears don't break in, haha!

Man!!! Some of those views were fantastic!!! I think you will know "home" as soon as you see it. There won't be any question about it. I live in Ohio now but grew up in west Los Angeles. Westerners are a whole different breed of people. Sometimes you will be judged for just having your option about something. What a cool fun trip. Ted is so funny. Enjoying these videos!!

Ellen, thanks, I think you're right, and it's certainly fun to explore. Ted will be thrilled to get a nice comment, I'll pass it along... :)

Beautiful! If you find that place with open minded/like-minded people...let me know. I say the same thing, but I am not sure "that place" exists for me. When I hear people say they love everything about their town or neighborhood or city, I am envious. Stay well and happy travels.

Good video. I lived in Big Fork and it is an adorable town. The prices are crazy in Montana. I know what you mean about "grass is greener thing" being my Mom's gypsy daughter of five. LOL. I think it's great to do what you're doing, you never know a place may just capture your heart. I fell in love with Point Reyes. I am happy where I am at for now but you never know. Enjoy the ride. In Montana we had lots of fruit trees and the bears never bothered it. The deer would eat the apples but the tree was so loaded we never minded.
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
Nice to know I'm not entirely crazy. Point Reyes is wonderful, I can see the appeal. But the prices are a little crazy there too! That's interesting that the bears didn't bother the fruit trees. Here they'll come out of the mountains to the wild edges of Reno to find some.

That rafting looks like fun, but I'm such a boob. I can't stand cold water!!😂😂Montana is indeed beautiful.😊

I hate cold water too, and being cold in general. Lucky for us it was a hot day and an easy river with a very low chance of flipping into it!

17:35 that was a lovely snapshot of Montana’s natural beauty. Tourist towns never offer “community” due to the transient passing parade. Your frustration with condo-life is understandable. We all need to touch the soil each day to stay grounded, to have our own space to be ourselves. I am enjoying your search for a place to call home. Perhaps you should buy a van and continue the search as it may be the journey and not the destination that’s most important.
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
alexa, good point about the tourist towns, they can be that way. But I think if we live anywhere long enough we'll grow some roots. And yes, I sooooo want a van. We'll see... :)

What beautiful terrain! Being that you live in Tahoe, you can afford the luxury of being picky when looking elsewhere, right? Other than the snow, and it's a bit of a way to the ocean, Tahoe is perfect!! The rafting certainly looked fun, but we prefer more of a lazy float with cocktails! 🥤Patti doesn't want to "work" when rafting 😆
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
LOL, I get it about not working on a raft trip. Lucky for me I got permission to film instead of paddling that hardest rapid, and let me tell you, riding it was a lot more fun... :) And yeah, good point about the beach being so far away. That's another great thing about living here, the beach is just a few hours drive away. We really do have it all... :)

Beautiful video! Enjoyed the rafting tour, right up my alley! I know Placerville is close to you but I have a friend that lives there and it seems to fit your like list. Seems to be less expensive than Tahoe. And you would still be in California where most people accept your opinions. I would be there if it was near my two granddaughters!

Diane … Beautiful state; fun rafting adventure; excellent video!!! Re: living in Montana … Montana’s a wonderful place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. It’s just too cold in the winter!!! I don’t do ice well. In my part of Texas, it snows about once every ten years, and that’s just about right for me. Anyways, another great video with absolutely stunning scenery!!! Y’all take care, be safe, best wishes and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas. 👨🌾✝️🙏🖖☃️

Keep looking but take it from me, home is made of people. It’s not a structure or a place. Your home is sitting right next to you in the car. I found a nice place but it’s not home without someone to share it with. If all that’s wrong with where you live is lack of garden space, you might be able to buy some raw land that’s not suitable for building & put a garden there. I’m having 6 foot electric fences put up around my garden because I don’t care where you are, if you build it they will come. Ravens, blue jays, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, deer, bugs…you name it. And weeds. A garden is a battleground too.
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
LOL, you're so right about the critters, I forgot about the little guys... :) And I do agree, home is wherever you decide it is, and for me, yes, it's in the passenger seat... ❤️

What area of the country does your husband gravitate, too? Spend more time visiting areas you both love and see which area you might agree on.. Then start looking for where your dreams will come true, for both of you.

I understand the need to be closer to one's tribe. Where I live, I am happy when I drive around and see signs on people's lawns that say "kindness peace equality love diversity and hope." Recently, when I was in a conservative area all I could see were signs that said *uck Biden. I hope you can find the perfect place that aligns with your values. Have you ever checked out Susanville California? That's a conservative area...
