Finding old Mining Ruins along the BILL NICHOLS/7 HOUR PLANE CRASH TRAIL

Third and final video on our 7 Hour Plane Crash Trail trip! After leaving Copper Harbor, we headed South to the town of Houghton. This is where we started on the 40+ mile stretch of the Bill Nichols Trail with its famous triple bridge crossing. Along the way we checkout out a few old mining ruins.

I snowmobiled the Bill Nichols trail many times back in the 80's. Bridges are truly something to see.

My son is a student at Michigan Tech. Been struggling with driving 8+ hours in the Jeep to get up there to hit that trail. On my bucket list, love my Jeep just not into that many hours on pavement. Someday though that trail looks pretty easy and I have an F150 that's much more comfortable for a long haul.

The F150 could do the trail with ease and in two wheel drive I might add. Yeah, I have a JKU as well and it’s not nearly as comfortable as the Gladiator on long road trips.

Would you happen to have the bridges mapped or coordinates? Heading out next week for a 10 day overlanding trip.

Hey bud, all I can tell you is that the bridges are at the very southern end of the Bill Nichols trail. Unsure of the exact coordinates. Hope this helps and have fun!

Someone explain how the Bill Nicolas Trail along with most of the 7hr Plane Crash Trail leading into the Keweenaw Peninsula is considered to be only ORV to the Michigan DNR but jeeps are traversing it? DNR Maps are so confusing

I pay for both of the Michigan ORV licenses every year so should be allowed on them.

@@TrailExpedition That's what I had to purchase also in order to run trails in Michigan being from out of state. It's just confusing because jeeps technically aren't considered ORV's.

Michigan considers them off road vehicles if you’re taking them offroad. Not sure how other states do it.
