A lot of comedians really don't care to be in the limelight, yeah sure everyone wants to make a paycheck or be a part of something they like, for instance look at bill burr. He had a very minor roll in breaking bad, and in the mandalorian, but I dont ever see him going for a whole feature length film. Then you have Dave Chappelle who did how high and the Chappelle show which both were awesome but he did those because he wanted to, not for the publicity or fame, and then he went on his way to live a private life. I respect comedians for that kind of stuff. A lot of them go on to be writers, directors, voice actors, stuff that really doesnt come across the majority of the public's eyes. I know personally that I wouldnt want to be crazy famous, sounds too toxic to a personal life. Hell another good example in a sense is the difference between Bert kreischer and Tom Segura. Bert loves to go out after his shows and enjoy the public where as Tom doesnt, he just wants to do his thing. Neither are exactly crazy famous outside of the comedy world, yet choose different ways on how they would like to live their lives.

Meghan Markle left the UK because, as she put it, she felt like a "civil servant in a tiara". Meaning she greatly disliked the role and the demands of being a working royal. She said the royal family were "always nice to her". The tabloids adored her and referred to the "Markle sparkle". The Queen gave pieces from her own personal jewelry collection and invited her to Christmas at the palace before she was even married to Harry - something that goes against royal protocol (has never been done before in history) and even Princess Catherine wasn't given that special treatment despite dating William for years and years before marrying him. Meghan had been dating Harry less than a year. The royal family threw her dream wedding and we British taxpayers paid $33 million for it. We loved her. And then something went wrong. She started breaking royal rules one by one, she hated the job when she realized how tough it was (don't blame her - I couldn't do it)... tabloids turned on her etc etc. But a very small minority of tabloids actually dared say anything mean regarding race and those that did were very much not the reflection of our press at large nor our public at large and our regard for her. Anyway.... we're not a racist nation. :/
@boltaurelius3762 жыл бұрын
@@fieryheadedgirl That's it. I find it rather banal that it is assumed that disdain for a person is for their superficial characteristics. For most of us critics, she deviated from what we expected of our Royal family. We all know our royal family is German. The sizeable majority of us sincerely couldn't care about their genetics (if anything, the history European monarchies suggest some fresh genetics would do them a favour) We just want them to stay non-partisan and uphold their traditions andstay away from "financiers" who own islands etc. Now the monarchy arguably is a waste of money but for some of us, they represent something. For many nations, what unites the people and define the border is a culture, language, ethnicity, ideology, creedence, values, geography and so forth but the Queen, being the head of state in the commonwealth means that our pool of brother and sisters can transcend all those. He biggest echo chamber of them all. Read about the Battle of Bamber bridge in WW2 for a sense of what fair play means to some of us.

“If I don’t you know your pain, I can’t trust you to portray mine on camera.” An understandable sentiment - but his own example of BELIEVING said British actor was American, means that he believed the pain they portrayed until he learned they were British. In other words, the pain was FELT until his brain made him THINK otherwise. It always stuns me how, even knowing much less about black British culture than we do about black American culture - black Americans believe they live a completely unique black experience. We endure levels of overt and covert racism, brutality, stereotyping, name discrimination for non-white sounding and spelled names, not at all different from black Americans. The black diaspora faces these challenges globally, even in what we could call our own motherland. The difference is that American culture was BUILT off of dividing classes by race, guns are legal, and most importantly, all Americans, not just black Americans, are so self insulated that most consider the US the world, and actually don’t really have a great desire to learn of the world outside those 50 states. I’ve always viewed the US as one big sports team that’s main concern is being perceived the winners. That competitive nature, which produces some of the best historical talents in human history, unfortunately also breeds endless and needless competition and division in every single facet of American culture. Take for example the recent debate over Kendrick vs Wayne at the Super Bowl. Us VS Them very quickly becomes Us vs Us. And by Us, I mean black people. All black people

Personally, I think it's silly to lump in the experiences of a middle-class Nigerian like, say Kemi Badenoch, with those of a Trinidadian who came here in the 1950s to work on the buses. The Sewell Report laid bare the lack of statistical underpinning to much of the race-oppression rhetoric. What he showed was that class and geography were hugely under-reported factors in determining people's life chances in the UK.

Sorry Scott. I think as black Americans so times we get some caught up and trying to fix the deeply rooted racism here that we may tend to forget others race issues. However we are spiritual people and stay praying for the those less fortunate and those going through hardships etc. God Bless you as you go through you struggles in this hard and many times cruel world.

@@ThirdLawPair occasionally my sarcasm fails to hit the mark. America loves to tout how great is it in so many categories... and many US citizens would definitely agree, even on the issue of racism. "We got the best racism on Earth, hands down (and nooses up)! Your country's racism is barely acceptable!" I'll be honest: since I have resided only in the US, I have no knowledge as to the degree of racism in other countries. But I will say the US probably DOES do it best.
@ThirdLawPair2 жыл бұрын
@@dianeridley9804 You might find the history of racism in India particularly interesting. It's a good case study for the way that colonialism can worsen or create such issues, and also how some issues do not interact with colonialism at all. It's also a useful model for us to understand where they've had successes and where they've not. Many of our own great civil rights leaders used civil rights successes in India as a model for efforts here.
