The best advice I was given when having more than one child is never tell the older ones you are not able to do something because of the baby. Instead say your hands are busy and you can help when they are no longer busy.

My delivery had to be in a hospital due to medical issues. I arranged to have my oldest brought up as soon as possible. I had a party to celebrate him becoming a big brother. He loved it and from then on that was his baby. They are in their 30s and still so close. My biggest recommendation is to make sure Neo still gets one on one time with each of you. It really helped my kids have a good relationship as they understood that each of them was important and loved.

I have 2 toddlers one year apart. Because I could not dedicate all my time to my eldest, I first was envious of the time my husband had with my eldest. Now we go once a week on mummy and son's date, walks, cook together just the two of us! Love those moments I get to have with him alone and he has my full attention. Congratulations to you!!!

The best advice I was ever given was to have dad hold the baby when the older one comes in and they can see mom and meet the baby! Also great advice I was given was to never “blame” the baby like if Neo wants to play with you but you are feeding the baby you don’t say I can’t play with you I’m feeding the baby you try to say do you want to come cuddle while baby has some milk and then we can go play! 💕 I’m so excited for you guys! Congrats 🥳

We had 13 months between our first two and the love just grows to fit how many you have to love. They hopefully will help each other to grow up and be best friends. When we had our third, we kept baby books with scan pictures and little things they think or say. Helps Neo be more involved

I have 3! The one thing I did when I was pregnant with my second child. I brought my first a baby doll, he is a boy, but I found it helpful, especially once baby was born, I changed his brothers nappy and he changed his babies nappy. I evolved my eldest in pretty much everything that way he didn't feel left out and it built a bond between them. You have so much love in you, that you will see that you have enough for each child even if you have 10! Going from one to two is major after that its a walk in the park! Enjoy the journey. Best advice as a father of two is just make sure any other aspects of your life are as sorted as possible beforehand so when the time comes you both have as much free time as possible to spend altogether but just to support each other. Also, no need for tips and tricks, just take everything as it comes, only you know what’s best for your children and you’ve been through it all before so you guys have got this. It’s so worth it.

Congratulations! I have two little boys that are 2 years and 4 months apart as well! (Also April and August births!). It’s been a wild ride to say the least and as you said every family’s experience is so different. Having said that if I could give only one advice I’d say that surround yourself with your ‘village’ whatever that support system looks like for you. Personally I wanted to stay at one place once we did our big family trip to overseas. Overall it’s no joke; the intensity of all emotions shake you quite a bit. But of course you eventually find yourself being grateful for what you’ve accomplished and how much love you’ve generated and spread in our beloved universe ❤

Congratulations again!! You definitely will feel like you know everything second time around, so that part will feel easy! A few quick tips: 1: do as much as you can before baby comes! Seriously, because time is going to completely disappear for awhile. 2: get your village ready, you will come to rely so much on the support of your network in the few few and first few months, really it feel like the first year. 3: patience and parenting is a skill that just like all skills, need to be worked on and constantly learning. I had all the same feelings and while your love does grow and expand your oldest almost immediately feels so grown up after baby is here it's crazy how that happens. Awe! Congratulations! As a mom of two it’s a lot more busier than having one but once you find your routine and groove it becomes easier. Don’t know if you’ll have another csection or a VBac but I know after my second csection it took me longer to recover so take your time and don’t rush yourself.

Congrats!!!!!! And I just had my second in the summer and ours are 2 years and 4 months apart too and it’s a really sweet age gap! I read Siblings Without Rivalry while I was pregnant and it’s been super helpful, and I read Anchored by Deb Dana before my first and though it’s not a parenting book it’s so helpful for being able to regulate my nervous system amidst the chaos of parenting, and us having regulated nervous systems helps our kids’ nervous systems be more regulated too. So excited for y’all!

Huge congratulations! I completely understand the initial emotions about your first baby having to share your attention but that goes away as soon as you give birth. My only advise about having a second child/introducing your older child to their new sibling is don’t for one second act like it’s a big deal(in a negative way) because that can cause SO many problems with jealousy etc. You might find some people(strangers/etc) making comments to Neo like “just you wait,you’re not going to be #1 anymore” or somesuch nonsense,& it’s so important to not play into that. I’ve seen the absolute worst results from a family member apologizing to her oldest & making a huge deal about it & giving gifts & showing massive guilt about having #2 & it ended with her oldest being violently jealous & angry with her newborn brother. An extreme case but yeah. Having a sibling is nothing but an amazing joy & Neo will gain so very much from it all. Learning to share everything from toys & experiences to your attention is all just part of life,it was such an absolute joy to watch my oldest with her little brother with almost the same exact age gap that yours will have. Can’t wait to see your expanding family & all that goes with it. So happy for you all!❤💜🎉

Also! That age is so wonderful for including them as a helper(getting a diaper/burp cloth/etc)& is the best for normalizing it all. Another tip is to have a bin/bag (or several) filled with toys/games/puzzles that are set aside for only when you are needing a few minutes (newborn naptime/nursing/mental health/whatever) it helps so much. My first was so in love with her little bro,singing to him as he cried,comforting him,bringing him toys & art. So beautiful.They’re teens now & still have the best friendship💜🥰

Congratulations! I've currently got two and my youngest just turned one. Kids/babies are the best. My advice is to have so much grace - for yourself, your partner, your other child, the new baby, everyone lol. Systems will need to change, standards may shift, and it's all in service of keeping everyone sane and that's ok! One more piece of advice that I was given that I loved is to tell your toddler good stories about the baby, so if the baby smiles, "look, he's smiling at you!" or if the toddler brings a toy, "he likes that so much! He really loves you!" and so on. I hope everything goes so smoothly for you guys!

God creates us to be able to love in multiples. ❤️ And the older Neo gets the more independent he becomes. He will also love helping with the baby.
