Here's a few tips for finding where the deer go and where to setup in a "jungle" of mixed habitat in the Southeast. Deer can be very unpredictable in their movement and bedding patterns in this type of habitat, but a few things can sometimes narrow it down to an ideal spot to climb a tree and kill one.

Those field-edge oaks are also MONEY for squirrel hunting. I always seem to do really well on those.

I know of one such field edge red oak that is loaded with birds and squirrels when it produces a big crop.

Hey Catman, i really enjoyed the video. Do you think that you would ever like to do traditional archery? I'm 15 and compound and crossbow hunted since i was 8. however when i was 14 i switched to traditional and it is so fun and just feels good to shoot. It is a little bit harder because there are no sights but the more you shoot the more you will find your aiming method. Where ever on your face your anchor might be you have to make sure that you are looking straight down the shaft of the arrow to ensure better shots, not a little to the left or right. Anyway, just an idea that i brainstormed and thought you might be the kind of person that would like it.

Good video! Looks very similar to the food selection on my farm on the eastern side of the state. Most of the oaks and walnuts started dropping way too early because of the drought we had in our area. Have you ever seen deer eating the seed pods from a Paulownia tree? I have watched them eat the seed pods when they drop a couple times before.

I never have, I thought the pods stayed on the tree and split open. Pignuts look very similar but they drop when they’re still green.

briargoatkilla Hey that’s good to hear man. The Corona virus has definitely supplied us health care workers with plenty of work. I’ve been working 60 hour weeks for the past month. And will probably continue to work 60 hour weeks until around October 15 and then I plan to go back to 3 12s a week and hunt as much as possible

That buck at the end of the video acted more like a doe than a buck! I watched it a couple more times and didn't notice any nackers as the deer ran off. Could it be an antlered doe?

Nah they often act like that in the summer. Testosterone doesn’t start flowing good till the velvet comes off
