My first time back to my happy place for 2024!~ I knew there wouldn't be too much to find: the low tide was 0.8metres; that's ridiculously high!! I did find a small collection of microshells though, so it was a pretty nice morning overall. Thank you so much for watching!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

G'day everyone! Wow, you're actually reading the description? Um, thank you! You will be rewarded with extra content... my Facebook page (link above) is loaded with out-takes and deleted scenes that don't make it into the KZbin videos. Check out the extra funsies over there if you're desperate for more shelling content ;D

I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admired him a lot, and you can check out his videos here:

G'day Reet 👋🏻💖 Oh yes, there isn't much washing up right now other than the minis! The mystery shell...the Coral Whelk that looks like a white moon snail? Such was such a fun new one to find!! As always Reet, thank you so much for watching 🥰

Hi Maddie, loved that little carrier shell and the little blue cowrie. Some very nice scallop shells too. Your collection at the end was fab.❤xxxxx

G’day Alison 👋🏻💖 The carrier shell was such a cutie! Someone mentioned that it’s like a snail that’s also a sheller 🤣 I thought that was a very cute concept! I sure got some great minis this time, it had been quite slow for the local shellers here since New Years, so I was very lucky to get what I found. Thank you so, so much for watching, and for your kind words; the micro shell displays always take the longest to set up 🥰

Hi Maddie, Raining heavy and bad wind. I like the Pallid Carrier Shell the best. Lots of tinies today. Went to my friend's store and bought snowmen, etc. You know me I love my collections. Sad about putting CMAS away. You take care out there and happy seashell hunting. Much Lovr, Trudy

G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 Oof, that weather sounds absolutely terrible 😞 I hope you're staying indoors and warm. At least for me here, our rainy season is in the summer, so the wind and rain isn't chilling. Please stay safe. The Carrier shell today was a nice one, but I mentioned this to someone else: I think the Coral Whelk is my true favourite when I look back on the day!! I knew I'd seen it in my book, and it definitely wasn't in the moon snails section 🤔 it still took me a while to find the ID again though 🤣 Oh wow Trudy, the snowmen will be there for your next Christmas 😉 I bet they'll look great this December. As always Trudy, thank you so much for continuing to watch the adventures 🥰

Hi Maddie! Great video! I loved the Gaudy Dog Welk. My runners up are the Cat Cowry and the Graceful Cowry.. Thanks for a wonderful hunt!! Trying to catch up on your videos!! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤

G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 Oh, you'll never catch up; I'll always have more videos to watch! Well, who knows, but I hope you've gotten caught up now 😉 Oh wow, the Gaudy Dog Whelk was the pick this time 😲 those ones almost never get a mention, although I also think they're really lovely shells. The Cat Cowrie was a fun one, and I always love a good Graceful Cowrie as well. When I pick them up from here, they look like a dark blue, but they always dry to a light grey-blue - so unusual! As always, thanks for watching 🥰

I wasn’t finished! 😂 Loved the toothed 🦷 limpet and the coral 🪸 whelk. I always enjoy the minis days. And that big yellow scallop, what a beauty. 😘 The sea urchin was really cool too. Thank you for another amazing video Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰

G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 Haha, you make it sound like Operculums are the rarer things to find 🤣 well, I did go a few months without seeing any, not even the rough ones 🤔 the little Carrier Shell was nice, but looking back, I think my favourite might actually have been the Coral Whelk!! How did it escape my attention at the time? Oh well! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the adventure 🥰 have you and your family returned home from your trip yet, or are you still off to see the aliens?

@@SandCoffeeRocks yes we are home. 🏠 So we went to Roswell thinking there was a fun alien cafe… nope. It was kind of a bust. We did go to a cheesy museum, but that was it. 😭 The trip was really good though. Had a blast with my son and daughter-in-law. 🥳 I need to write you a big long letter! Keep up the good work Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰

@@pamdudley6153 Oh no Pam, I thought Roswell would have had heaps to offer for alien cafe and amusement attractions! Just a museum, dang, I'm sorry you had such a let down. I'm glad you got home safely though. I've been meaning to send you a letter too...dated it for the first of Jan, but couldn't find my stash of 100 Ninja pics. Ahhh, I gotta print some off. Anyhoo! Such is life 🤣

My favorites are the lovely orange scallop and the carrier shell. Maddie gut the urchin and place in oxyclean the oxyclean is so much gentler, I have even left them over night. Don’t do it to long. I remove the spines and with the oxyclean it gets rid of the Oder. Great video as always.

G'day Jan 👋🏻💖 The Scaly Scallop sure was a nice one, and I did love the Carrier Shell that day, but looking back, I actually think I like the Coral Whelk more 😲 Oh thanks for the advice for the Sea urchin, I do plan to use Oxy on it... I think you were the one who suggested it last time for the green urchins? It works a treat, though when they are still wet, they smelled fishy, but I haven't done anything about it other than let them dry. I do kind of wonder how a weak bleach bath would make them look different 🤔 my Sputnik Sea urchin is white and purple, but a clean unbleached one is actually grey and purple. Anyhoo, I'll be careful and give this guy a good clean! Thank you so much, Jan 🥰

@@SandCoffeeRocks Hi Maddie, I gut mine and make sure all the inside is gone then soak in oxyclean. Mine do not smell when done and with oxyclean total destruction is less likely. I left mine in a lot longer than I would ever do with bleach.

G'day Leslie 👋🏻💖 I had to Google a peyote stitch! It's a lovely looking design; so angular on those quilts I saw online. I feel like you'd need one of those crazy star-like Limpets to go on it though - they're extra pointy too!! I don't find them up here though 😅 Anyhoo!! Thanks for watching 🥰

G'day Sharlene 👋🏻🐌 It sure was a wonderful day for the minis!! I loved the Donkey Cowrie too, I just don't see enough of them! Oh, those mini Sand dollars, I saw someone else call them Pebble Urchins! I wonder which is a better name, what do you think? Anyhoo, thank you so much for watching 🥰

So cute minnies minnies 😮😮😮 So hard to choose the most fav 😅 But I'll go withhhh the cowries 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Btw, how u display your minnies? Put them in a special container/jar?
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks 8 ай бұрын
G'day Nelly 👋🏻❤️ Oh yes, there are always heaps of minis here when the tides don't get too high or too low. The cowries are still the best, I agree 😉 For displaying them, my very rare minis go into a special little display case...I think I showed it at the very end of my seashell cabinet display tour video (from before Christmas). For others, I might put them in very small jars of the same species, like Wentletraps and bean trivia's. For the rest, I am a bit lazy; I have a massive jar that I'm slowly filling with thousands of different minis 🤣 it will take a while!! Thanks for watching 🥰

Something that might help with those shells with bits of dead critters in them…boil them in some salted water….it causes the critter to turn rubbery and shrink which makes them easier to remove plus it also removes the smell. 😊
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks 8 ай бұрын
G'day Beach Girl 👋🏻🐚 I though I replied days ago, but I didn't 😳! Salted water, you say? I think that could work, but with a caveat; you shouldn't boil shiny or glossy shells because it will cause them to develop hairline cracks through the shell! No boiling those cowries or smooth bonnets 😉 I think Tritons and Whelks would be fine, though I'm not sure about bubble shells 🤔 I'll find a clean them, not to worry. Thank you so much for watching 🥰
