In regards to the jjambalaya, Houston is so close to the border of Louisiana there are lots of Cajuns & Creoles in the town. My Cajun family moved over in the 80's for work. So I always grew up with Cajun food, knew some of the little gems in town, but it became more mainstream in Houston in the last 10 years. It really boomed after Katrina when so many New Orleans natives moved to Houston and we got more Creole & Cajun places and influence in town.

Houston BBQ is unique compared to the other Texas cities. Mainly in that we love having BBQ with a rich sauce, soft warm tortillas and delicious Brussel sprouts with our meats. It’s always interesting to see how each city is unique in their own ways. Great commentary and awesome series! 🍖 👏 😋
@albertozepeda19394 сағат бұрын
As a Houstonian, I disagree about the sauce. We do have a wide range of BBQ styles but I'd say most people still like theirs sauceless. How else can you judge the meat?
@Dugie5553 сағат бұрын
@@albertozepeda1939 That’s interesting, I’ve always seen most people ask for the sauce. I know it’s common manners to eat the BBQ meat without the sauce first, but most people I’ve seen will eat with the sauce.

Can confirm tater tots are not that common in the UK. Some indie fast food places do them to go with burgers etc as an alternative to 🇬🇧chips (🇺🇸fries). In mass catering, like schools or hospitals, you will find potato croquettes, but that's mashed potato and breaded, rather than the shredded potato of the tot. Or potato smiley faces or alphabet letters in schools for little kids, which is just a croquette in a different shape. The closest British potato product to a tater tot is our hash browns, which are shredded potato pressed in a shape (usually triangular), they come in a bag from the freezer section and they cook up pretty crispy on the outside. But that's pretty much just a breakfast food.
@kevinprzy45398 күн бұрын
shaped Hash browns are from New York they're all over the US as well due to that and a tater tot is the exact same thing as a shaped hashed brown literally just shaped differently lmao so you're not missing out on too much when it comes to tater tots.

Houstonian here. Pinkerton's is the best BBQ in Houston. You can't go wrong with any place though - but no other place has the same quality sides and meat. Pinkerton's has the best potato salad on earth. They also have jalepeno cheese rice (I think it's trademarked?) nobody else can serve it. This video was pretty damn accurate in terms of highlighting the best of each place. We are splitting hairs here, our worst is better than a lot of city's best. My favorite fries in the city. I love that duck jamabalaya at Pinkerton's. I can't say it's my favorite place in town. Kudos for going to The Pit Room. Glad they got to try the breakfast tacos. My favorite thing there is the chicken taco. I'm as surprised about that as anyone. I seem to remember they had really stellar okra as well.
