Finding the key hole and manually unlock your Mustang if battery is dead and key fob won't work

In this video, we'll be focusing on how to access your Ford Mustang when your key fob is not working.
Open the back plate of your key.
Inside, locate a small spare key.
Underneath the key handle, find a slot.
Insert the spare key, push a button to release.
It might be a bit finicky, but the handle cover will pop off.
Now, use the key as a nifty Allen wrench to twist and unlock the car.
No need for sharp objects or the risk of damage!

The direction is clockwise, not counterclockwise. It moves nicely counterclockwise makes you think that that’s the direction you need to go.

Does the physical key also deactivate the alarm? Or is it normal for the alarm to tell you “press unlock on key fob to stop alarm” I have to kinda rush in and get the key fob on the cup holder slot and turn the car on otherwise the alarm starts blaring

Is the key able to start the vehicle?...if they key fob is dead, it may not transmit to the car that the key is near by and may not allow the push button

No, the key will open the door, but you will still need to boost your battery to start your vehicle.

That seems to be the only solution. Is it just harder to turn the key than expected? It does need some strength. A tow company could unlock the car for you and boost your battery if necessary.

All i can say is thank u so much ford is telling me i need to get my car towed from home to bring it to the dealership to put it on the computer to see y my car wont unlock all this unnecessary money they want me to spend just to get it there instead of telling me this

So glad you were able to unlock your car! There may be another issue as to why your car wouldn't unlock with the fob, a check up could be a good idea!

Do you sell the lock by itself? Battery died and tried to open door. Key wouldn’t open door so applied more pressure and the door opened but now the key turns freely within lock.

Yeah, I have this same problem. My battery is dead and the key won't go into the lock. I wonder if it's some anti-theft system. I can't find anything about it in the manual.

DE4DF1SH my battery has died before and the key opened the door fine. This time when I tried to turn in the key it would not unlock. I applied more and more pressure trying to get it to unlock and finally I heard it unlock. But the key got stuck and took forever to take out. So just be careful not to apply too much pressure. Very frustrating but eventually you can get it. Best of luck!

You might have a problem with the lock itself. Like something in there. Go to a locksmith and see if they can recommend a lubricant that can help.

Which step is not working for you? Sometimes the cap is a little tricky, but there is a sweet spot to pop it off. Have a close look under the handle first!
