you solved my problem. I used to have advanced physics, calculus, trig, etc education but being 61 have forgotten so much. I needed to do a calculation for sausage. For example. I have 1.3 kg of lean meat. I need to have a ratio of 70 percent meat to 30 percent meat. I need to know how much fat to add. This is for making sausage. This will help me do it myself instead of asking google. My brain is working again. So Lean Meat × 100 ÷ 70 = Total product Weight. Total Product weight - Lean meat = fat required.

Even less messed up, once you know what % is your discount price, just divide the discount price by that % (in decimal form) and you got your answer. I don't understand why you make an extra step of dividing the decimal % with itself when it cancels out. Besides this though, this was so useful because it is faster and easier to do than the fraction method I was using.

It took me time but I get it now your not stupid. Write the sale price then calculate the % value of the sale so the last example 112.41 divide by 0.45 ( that's what the sale price represents. because you calculated 100-55 =45%. So 112.41÷45 =249.80 and the answer was the original price
