I love my UBR 62s, and believe they are worth the extra cash. The DBR 62's seem a little boomy and congested to my ears, while the UBRs sound more open and expansive. They are also VERY forgiving of poor recordings, so if you listen to a lot of older rock or R&B music, these are a godsend. Thanks Erin!

I had a set of UBR62's and found the midrange to be too laid back. They were easy to listen to (not fatiguing), but the snare drum and vocals always sounded like they were in the background. The sound stage was incredibly wide, which was a real plus.

I bought the cheaper DB62 on sale at $240 less than a year ago. I also bought the cheapest Onkyo AVR for $230. I have a lot of digital music in FLAC format. I plug the USB into my Sony blu-ray (non 4K and $70) and play it in DIRECT mode through the Receiver and whoa it sounds pretty clean and dynamic compared to anything else. Not bad for a bedroom system, the only issue is that the receiver is kind of large. Been thinking about a small subwoofer like that 8-incher you tested but have to find a way to 'hide it" to please the Mrs. I would cross-it-over somewhere between 80-100 hz. Thanks for your review.

I listened to these three plus others online (at E Project on YT) and concluded that I prefer the lean & tuneful bass of the Debut 2 B6.2. The differentiator is how male radio announcer voices sound in room, natural or tubby. There is pretty much universal praise for these by online reviewers. The price dropped to $240/pair on Amazon recently, that made them the bargain of the century, so I had to order them. I ran them in (in anti-phase for two days) & have been enjoying them ever since. Has anyone truly isolated that 700Hz resonance & has a simple fix?
@peterbaugh51

Great comparison video. I hear the same resonance with the DB62. That 700 htz bugs my ears. I'm very happy with DBR62 (two way) and tone controls, and some power. Nothing against AJ, but $1,200 is not enough to make a great 3 way in my opinion. And more power is usually needed to make them sing. But hey, 3 ways sell to a Market so I get it. Thanks again.

Wow that was too fast from you bro 😮. Didnt expect it this fast when you said you would be doing an elac series video. Welldone and thanks for it 🎉. Now something to note about : I guess there was some technical update that went through the UBR62 's with the price hike from 1000$ to 1200$ because the early version of the UBR62's had a cutout on the speaker grills on the driver side, whereas the later versions came with a full mesh grill design which looked more professional and perfectly curved than the previos one. So i believe there must have been some internal changes as well for the extra 200$ hike apart from the redesigned grill alone. This only my Guess. UBR62s need a good AMP to show its true potential. I recommend Tube Amps(atleast 40watts RMS) if one can afford, if not AL7000a as a solid state AMP with a Subwoofer.

About the sensitivity: I don't understand why this is important. When I hear pop music with UBR62 in a ca. 40 square meter room at a volume already at party level, the power meter of the AVR indicates only 1.5 Watt more than under mute (42.5 W vs. 41.0 W at mute). So already 1.5 W brings a very loud noise. With this speaker of an allegedly bad efficiency. I don't understand why people in their own living rooms ever need 10 W, let alone 100 W.

Folks I been listening to a lot of reviews on the elac debut 6.2 of which I had bought . A lot of negativity on it making me doubt my purchase. I’m no expert but I know what I like and what I don’t like. I don’t like alot of midrange. I thought buying a two way speaker would eliminate that. But apparently that’s not the case. Lessons learned. I watched a sound off with es20 against the elac 6.2. The 6.2 had a more powerful midrange, but I’ve also learned it depends on the music played and amp driving it. I have a onkyo 5tx-rx502. It drives the speaker good. I played” higher love” by Ben fox. And that was a beautiful experience on these speakers ! 🤣

The DB6.2 tweeter is also in a wave guide. The cabinet and woofer driver are the main differences between the DB6.2 and DBR6.2. And the DBR6.2 tweeter has a distinct sharp lip around it (where the protective screen is installed) and this would seem to be the likely source of the diffraction. The DB6.2 has a much smoother surface around the wave guide. The 700Hz peak in the DB6.2 is almost certainly from the front baffle - the very narrow web between the tweeter and the woofer *and* the narrow web between the woofer and the port - are both "screaming" out for a rib brace to stiffen them both. This is probably the main advantage the DBR6.2 has - the slot port is not being a second weak point on the front baffle. And very possibly the web between the tweeter and the woofer *is* braced in the stock cabinet?
@ErinsAudioCorner

Yeah, I remembered that after I edited the video. If I recall correctly, it’s not quite as deep as the DBR62 waveguide but still in a guide nonetheless.

@@ErinsAudioCorner The picture you have in the video of the DBR6.2 with the protective screen removed is the first I have seen - and the sharp lip is a disappointment; in what otherwise seems to be the sweet spot speaker in this group. Thanks for the review. I am trying to understand my preferences and namely, know why I don't like the Elacs as much as other speakers. This of course, is while enjoying music and not worrying about precision in the sound stage. preference order .5 or 1.5 JBL Stage 590 (apples and oranges wildcard) 1. SVS Ultra Bookshelf (bought used for less than UBR62) 2. RP-600m II 3. RP-600m I 4. RP-160m 5. ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 (UB52-BK) I have only listened to these on a desktop near field, maybe I should ran these higher or get them into a different setup. Am I crazy for thinking the 52 seems to pump out more bass than the UBR62 ? 6. ELAC Uni-Fi Reference UBR62 (bought on sale scratch and dent, still higher than what I bought the used SVS ultra) Apples and Oranges Wildcard: I have the JBL Studio 590, Apples and oranges, I know. I only prefer them over the SVS ultra for bass and Airy wide stage. This might mean that I would like the wide of the 85 Lintons over stage precision placement. I guess It wont matter if I cannot stop my addiction to buying them all :) No bargain is as good as not buying. The UBR62 remains the most expensive Bookshelf speaker I bought. Most expensive speaker was a blemished SVS Ultra Center from SVS outlet. Side note: I bought an old Sony Compact MHR-78p at goodwill for $18. The speakers are Bi-amped, and rated at 8ohms. I hooked them Bi-amped to RP-160m's. Probably the best that little compact has sounded in its life.

Not sure what happened with Debut DB62 but I bought it for $256 pair in 2019. There is no reason for it to be 50% more expensive.

They were $149 several black Friday's ago. IMO that's about what they are worth given the competition in the $350 range now.

Thought these were designed to have the best sound right up against a wall. Seems like having them 6 foot off a wall is not very realistic.

The DB62 use to be BOGO for $300 a pair at Best Buy when it was fairly new in the market. Looking back ,that was a good deal.

@@ErinsAudioCorner Then please also include placement and other constraints. I have to place my speaker near the wall. Is KEF R3 still better than the Elac UBR62 in that case? And what if I hear at low volume? KEF still better?

Instead of featuring the far more expensive $1200 Unifi Reference, you should have used the entry level Unifi speaker, the UB52, with a 5" woofer, and 4" Unifi mid/tweeter driver, which is the same price as the DBR62, at $699.
