What's with the rude comments? Randy knows what he likes/dislikes and shares his experience in his personal/passionate style. I don't always agree with everything in his reviews but it's completely OK to not agree on everything. Courtesy will make this hobby much more fun for everyone. Cheers to Randy for making these fun videos and I really enjoy/appreciate them!

Thanks, brother. As a rule of thumb, the more negative comments on a video in the first day the better the video will perform. It’s actually a great indicator. I think most of the negativity comes from my hyperbolic titles because a lot of them clearly haven’t watched the video in totality

Please make up your mind about the Elac debut 2.0 B62. The last review you did of it you were raving how wonderful it is after giving it a second chance. I’ve got a pair. I believe everything you said about in the raving review was right on the button. I believe the imaging is the most impressive aspect of the 6.2 I can’t keep upgrading. There will always be another better Elac coming. Please don’t diss a speaker that you previously loved. A fair comparison is fine.

@@lynsnyder9165 I'd try to find a higher model Yamaha 10 inch as they are really good for the price/tech and will hit way lower than the elac. You could get a smaller Yamaha first as they are pretty cheap on sale, $99 last time buddy got 2. Careful of used subs as the amps get tired and might crap out sooner than later. Also you'll want to eventually get 2, one bigger and one 6 inch as it really rounds out the bass. I have the YST-SW320 and a 6 inch Klipsch and it sounds crazy good with any music or movies.

I bought the unifi ub52 2.0s 3 years ago when Randy said they were the best he'd heard. Over 700.00 and specs say 85db but I read an article that a guy measured them down to like 83.5db. @Artcore103
@Artcore103 2 ай бұрын
@@robertwoodward9231 you don't "get" efficiency out of a speaker, it's efficiency is what it is, period. it merely describes how loud it gets with a given input (2.83v or 1w, at 1m). so it's more accurate to say you can't get their full PERFORMANCE out of them, or properly push them to their limits... you can't get maximum SPL while remaining clean and controlling the woofer properly (which is also important for not damaging a speaker with a clipping amplifier).

I bought a pair of these DB63 speakers in September 2024 after hearing them at the THE Show. I have them in my living room, being driven by a Proton AA-1150 power amplifier (which can deliver up to 400WRMS/ch on dynamic peaks, but 50WRMS/ch normally). My living room is huge- about 40' wide with a cathedral ceiling. I have the Elac speakers paired with a Velodyne F-1200 servo subwoofer to handle the bottom of the bottom octave. In short, this system sounds ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL for this price point! The sound certainly is dependent on the source material, but for some of the music I've done in my own studio and played back at 24bit/48kHz, the soundstage image is no kidding the full 40' wide by 10' high with excellent depth. It is really hard to believe that the sound I'm hearing is coming out of those little bookshelf speakers. When people come over for a demo, I tell them to close their eyes and listen, because the visual of what they are seeing in front of them doesn't at all match the audio soundstage they are hearing. Interestingly, the Proton amp never goes into Dynamic Power on Demand mode even when I have these cranked (which means it is putting out 50WRMS/ch or less). I can HIGHLY recommend these Elac speakers for their outstanding price/performance ratio. I am an Electrical Engineer and an Audio Engineer.

A lot to like about the front drivers. Small center to center distance. Deepish waveguide for lower XO and headroom for the tweeter. Flared port!! I wonder how they measure?? Possible to remove the tweeter guard? Maybe even better treble??. Huge rubber surround so they might have decent X-max? I'm liking what I see here :)

you don't want to remove the tweeter guard, it's part of the design and helps with dispersion. you might get more pinpoint imaging but it's going to throw off the response and directivity index.

Also, if not the debut 3, what's another comparable speaker that's a little cheaper? Thanks man!

Elac isn’t the same without AJ but they built on his original design so they can’t be bad that’s for sure. I’ve had and have several of his designed speakers and I have yet to listen to anything he made and say anything bad about it.His crossover’s are awesome for imaging and his tonal balance is always spot on. I still use a pair of his UF 52’s on one of my current set ups and they are great . If I have one complaint is the woofer cones discoloured a bit which is weird but it’s no biggie. AJ is at mofi now a days and I have yet to audition a pair of source points but it’s in my plans . Elac still remains relevant without him if a little less. ☕️

I’ve noticed that six versus eight Oms for the Denon S540 BT anyway it seems to actually have a harder time driving the 6 Oms then it does the eight. I had the Sony CS fives for about seven years and they only reason why I got rid of them was because I use them so much that the main tweeter got dented but I literally used those for everything. But for some reason, I noticed the heat difference from the receiver. It would often overheat when those speakers were hooked up to it because it was having a hard time driving those. Now I’ve got some Polk audio T-15s hooked up to it and it seems to be just fine and can stay on for longer periods without overheating. I’m curious to know why that would be a thing if six ohms are supposedly easier to drive?

Sorry, but your personal preference is just that-a preference, and that's cool! 😂 Personally, I think front-facing ports sound better in most cases. ♥️ A speaker you really need to get your hands on is the Mirage 290is. I found a pair on Kijiji around 2009-2010, and I swear they're better than some tower speakers. They're large bookshelf speakers with incredible bass, transient response, and speed, making them one of the most hidden gems in loudspeakers, in my opinion. 😊 I just regret selling them. I had two matching Mirage LF150 subs with a Rotel 972 surround sound receiver that supported Dolby Digital, DTS, and HDCD. It was my favorite surround sound system ever! I had 290is speakers all around (found the rest on eBay) and even had a 300-350 watt 2-channel Rotel amp for the fronts at one point, along with a projector from 2010-2014. I seriously miss that system and would buy it again if I could! Cheers like your videos/channel keep up amazing work 🍀♥️💙🇨🇦🇺🇲

Doubt I'll get a response, but what would you suggest at roughly this price point for PC speaker, because mostly I will be running it pretty quite so having to run it at 80db or greater to get good sound is... sub optimal. I would like something that could run comfortably at 60db, but can stay accurate upto 85db maybe a little short of that, also because they are going to be within 1.5m 85db is fairly loud.

@cheapaudioman What do you think of a VS with the SVS Prime Bookshelf VS the Elac speakers that are in the video? I am on the fence about buying the Elac and the SVS Prime. I came from listening to the Klipsch RP-600M. Powered by a Marantz NR-1711 and a Klipsch R-12SW. Keep up the great work!

@@gerald9442 There is no comparison. Linton will destroy Debut 3. It's a 3 way semi-tower, so it takes away the only advantage Elac have over most speakers, sound stage.

I look forward to your videos but wish that you would test gear with more classical music. A few set reference recordings of full symphony orchestras, choral with orchestra, a capella choir and maybe string quartet and a wind chamber recordings. In case you don't especially like classical, the same few pieces in known good recordings could be used for the "chore" side of testing.

Raandy, the original B5 was an AMAZING speaker. at THE Show Newport when Andrew premiered the Elacs he used a Bel Canto system with 100wpc and we were looking for the sub everywhere. i also didn't like the B6.2 as well but it fit the bill for any audiophiles. were I to stumble upon the B5s for cheap, I would buy them. i have to mention that ihad the Pioneer BS22 by AJ, the forerunner to the Elac and for the price, I was quite impressed. i had them on some generic steel round ple stands and then got the Pangea stands at Audio Advisor for $169/pr, they immediately improved in the bass and imaging/soundstaging took a leap. i then returned to my MMGs and alternatively, my Spendor S3/5s with a sub. i have even recently put in my Minimus 7s in place of the Spendors. not bad but thin in the lower mids. thanks for being real.

Some years ago I owned a pair of Quad 12 L2 together with aSub That Was a fantastisch combination. My listening distance was nearly 4,5 meter and I used to Listen with a Level of 80 to 90 DB. 3 years ago one of the speaker got damaged after a fall from the stand. Because of the size of the room I decided to change to bigger floorstand speakers. But I never got the same joy than with the combination of the Quad and the sub. Maybe the Debut 6.3 together with the Elac Sub 3010 could be a good choice and bring back some joy to the listening.

Andrew Jones has moved on to other ventures, but it seems like the ethos has remained intact - and the engineering contributions have also remained in place, along with some incremental improvements. Elac has managed their value-priced Debut series most shrewdly of all the product ranges they have done.

I watch almost every video on this channel. I tried your recommednateions for Sony, ELAC, POLK, and JBL but always felt wanting. None ever seemed to give a significant improvement to the Andrew Jone's Pioneers or my old PSB's. But I found a local Hi-Fi shop who sold Fyne Audio speakers. This is a Scottish company who have former engineers from Tannoy. I purchased their bottom of line bookshelfs (around $400 CND on clearance) and IMO are way better than the major brands. Would love to see you do a review of their bottom of the range speakers (most of their speakers are high end and in the thousands of dollars). I'm in Canada so not sure if Fyne Audio are sold in the US? I'm also Scottish but remain completely unbiased (Aye right!!! If it's not Scottish, it's Crap)

instead of buying a half dozen different cheap entry level very mid speakers, why don't you get ONE set of really good speakers? you kept making lateral moves, where the trade-offs and strengths/weaknesses varied, but absolute performance was stuck at the same relative level. odd choice.

@cheapaudioman I have seen a few of your videos and love the cost effective solution you share. Now I have some investment plans ongoing so cannot invest in a new audio setup. So, I was thinking about building one from whatever is available with me. 1. An old LED FHD TV (not smart TV) for Display 2. Old Dell Studio laptop, with 5.1 channel support & Realtek HD Audio ALC888 onboard. 3. Creative 2.1 speakers with decent bass for front speakers. 4. BPL Double cassette player with line--in option, stereo support with surround sound setup (2 speakers per channel). Very crisp & clear sound. Planning to use these as back surround speakers. Problem: As soon as I set the sound card to 5.1 the base is very much reduced in the 2.1 speaker and I don't have any center speaker & separate subwoofer. I do have a few bluetooth speakers with aux-in but that woofer is the major missing part. Is there any other way to configure the above setup? If not, can you recommend a product for missing speakers (only subwoofer or may be both subwoofer & center speaker) that I can also use with any other home theater setup that I may purchase in future.

Wow! This speaker definitely looks like a serious contender. In fact the whole Debut 3 line looks good. I actually like that they switched to an aluminum dome tweeter as I heard that with the soft dome tweeter, the Elac's can sound dull. So that was the reason why I was holding off on them. I ended up buying PSB Alpha 3 speakers which use...an aluminum dome tweeter and they sound fantastic and image well. I am using them for my desktop speakers. Also, I JUST bought myself a pair of KEF Q350s and really like the way they sound, so sadly, no more speakers in the market for me! I need a good DAC now. @Randy. I am VERY curious how these Elac's compare to your beloved (and overpriced) Sonus Faber speakers. Last I looked those speakers moved from your living room, to your desktop and (on last check) they were on the shelf behind you. Seems like they have fallen out of favor, hmmmm? I will agree with the claim that certain speakers can sound much better than speakers costing much more. Speakers are one area where you don't always get what you pay for. In fact a great many are overpriced. There are some such as those new Italian made that seem to be putting too much into the looks and the cabinet, similar to Sonus Faber, and you definitely pay more for that. With me, I don't care if the speaker is just a simple box, as long as it sounds good. What I don't like is any obtuse looking speaker and many high end speakers seem to follow along those lines, such as the high end KEFs and the B&W speakers. Naw, the manufacturers can keep those. I like my speakers to look like speakers, thank you. Anyway, this was another great review and it is reviews like this that do have me sticking around. Oh, and I would love to pit those Advance Paris amps against a Bryston, which I KNOW is built way better. I just picked up a B2 for a song and dance and the stereo separation and imaging on that thing is out of this world! I do have to work on it, which is why I got it for a good price, but it seems to be a promising higher end amplifier. I know it beat the pants off my Denon receiver, and that isn't an easy task to do.
