I've been looking for an older T.B. Devil Rays cap with the logo they used from 2001-2007. But I want polyester, not wool. There were three diff caps they wore back then. I'd prefer the all black model but I'd take any one I could get in a 7-1/2. Do you know anywhere besides Ebay that sells hats like that?

Awesome vid, do you have any info or experience ordering same hat 2-3 different sizes and returning the ones you that didn’t fit?
@dreinthe616

Yes, I have done that once or twice, mostly when there are new materials and I'm not sure how they'll fit or respond. But most return policies ensure that you pay the return shipping, so I don't do it a lot. Most of the time I have been able to edit the caps enough to make them work - check out my channel for stretching/shrinking/shaping advice if you haven't already. Thanks for the question!

The variance in sizes is insane! Sometimes I order a 59fifty online and it's always risky because you don't know how it will fit, even ordering it in my usual size. I usually wear a 7 1/2 but I've found some 3/8s that feel bigger than 1/2s. And one of the most comfortable, perfect fitting caps I've ever owned was a 7 1/8! Not sure if you're familiar with the Hat Club but they have a ton of exclusive MLB 59fiftys they design and have NE manufacture. I've bought caps from them and they are high quality and seem to be a true to size fit.

I'm also a 7-1/2, but have several 7-3/8 caps that are great - and I also like getting my hands on the caps to try and find the best one at the shop - online can be hit or miss. Thanks for the tip on Hat Club, I've just checked it out and they've got some pretty nice stuff on offer.

I wonder how or if the manufacturing changes will affect Hat Club with the exclusives they offer. Or even Lids. Lids and New Era have been pretty close over the years, Lids has sold tons of hats exclusively for NE.

Maybe not too much with Lids, I noticed that many times I got a NE/Lids exclusive cap, it still originated from an Asia site.

I’m trying to track down a specific 59fifty that is no longer for sale on lids/fanatics/mlb store. I’m not too familiar with the hat collecting world. Any advice for trying to find a hat that has since been sold out? I’ve looked eBay/grailed/ poshmark/mecari etc with no luck. Its a two tone Twins hat (white w/ a navy bill and their red “m”) and has the 87 World Series patch on the side. Any advice for tracking down sold out hats would be much appreciated!

Some seem to have a peak top center, actually most. Anyway to smooth it without harming the cap??
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 6 жыл бұрын
The best way is to try and shape the front two panels with heat. The buckram inner layer holds its shape very well, and can be softened with a hair dryer. Check out the third technique shown in my stretching and shaping video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn-Qdn9jp9Kaf8U Try to press the flat of your palm where the peak occurs, to compress and smooth it - and hold til it cools off. If you don't like it at first, you can repeat the technique again - the buckram is durable. I've shaped many hats 2 or 3 times. Thanks for the question and good luck!

Thx this was pretty informative. Just a question, if i'm aiming at curving the brim should I still get my true size? I'm asking cause when i've tried them on the store they never fit my head as they should because of the tension that the flat brim creates and I definitely don't want to have a flat brim. I realize you said you can get a slightly bigger or smaller size because you also stretch them to fit your head, but i don't want to do that, just curve the bill. And thx again for sharing. :)
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 6 жыл бұрын
Sure, good question... yes, you should get a little relief when you curve the bill. If the hat is close to a good fit, then curving the bill might be just enough to get what you want. Of course I try flexing it in the store (without going too far), and then watch how the fit and crown behave in the mirror. And always try on the nearby sizes... I've tried on 7-3/8s that were too big, and 7-1/2s that needed a lot of stretching. Thanks!

Would you say that the low profile has less head space? I like the look of the low profile but I want more space as far as height so I was wondering whether I should just get the regular 59fifty and shape it to look more like the low profile
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, for sure the Low Profile has less room in the crown - if the space is something you value, then definitely go for the standard and try to shape it (a couple of vids at my channel for that). Just like I showed in the video here, it's best to get to a store where you can try on many caps in your size - because the crown height is variable from cap-to-cap. I've got a video that compares the LP and Standard, along with the 39Thirty, if you've not seen it yet - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWfaZaJ7i6iAjas - thanks!

@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 6 жыл бұрын
Probably a good future vid... but one thing I make sure to do is keep them "open" - I never fold in the back panels the way you find them in the store. After that, I just keep them in stacks on a shelf, but no more than 4 or 5 high, and I rotate positions in the stack as I wear them.

I think you are the customer that the Low Profile 59Fifty was made for... there's a lot less volume in the crown but it's still got the basic New Era fitted look. What if you have a head that's long but narrow? It seems like snap backs are definitely not too small for me, my head from front to back is long enough to have to open up the snapback a few notches but narrow to the point that there's a lot of space from my temples to the edge of the hat and I feel like it makes the hat look bigger on me than it is. Baseball/flex fit hats seem to fit perfectly since I'm guessing they're more narrow. I guess that I'm just not meant for snap backs and brands like New Era? :'c

Don't worry about it! I started my channel because I have a "long oval" headshape and wanted to share some advice - there are a couple of my other videos that you need to check out, and I'd recommend investing in a Hat Jack if you want to shape fitted caps to your head. You should watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn-Qdn9jp9Kaf8U and kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn3TfI2HmJeHeac first. But then check out my channel page for other tutorials on how to edit fitted caps. Good luck!

Hi, what's the difference between the 9FITY Stretch Snap and the 9FORTY A-Frame??
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 5 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't have experience with either one personally, but from what I can tell there are just two main differences. The first seems to be the stretch sweatbands in the 9FIFTY. But the biggest difference is the A-Frame construction itself - where there is no center seam between two panels at the front - it's just a fold at the top of the single front panel. Hope that helps, but I'd check the web for any other info.

No names... hard to believe but these are all just standard 59Fifty caps. In fact, I wore the LAD cap here into a Lids store once and the store manager thought it was a low-profile 59Fifty. I do have another video that compares the styles if you are interested in finding it at my channel, thanks.

Do you have any idea whether they sell the standard 59Fifty caps at stadiums or if they sell the low profile/crown caps? Because I bought a 59fifty at an Oakland A’s game last year and it seems to fit and looks different than my other 59fifty caps.
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 6 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing they might sell both, and the easiest way to spot the difference is the original gold 59Fifty sticker, since I haven't ever seen a low profile label inside the caps. But the other thing is that the construction can vary so much from cap to cap - I have a Cubs and a Braves cap where the crown is so short and compact that you might think they are Low Profile - but they were standard when I bought them. Thanks for the question.

Hi man, I was wondering if you own any 47 hats? I normally buy the 47 MVP but I want to buy a 59fifty low profile, but I am not too sure. From pictures the 47 mvp looks more similar to the 9forty. Any thoughts?
@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 4 жыл бұрын
Actually I only own one '47 and it is a fitted... I was about to post a review because they don't do fitteds often. You are right on about the closest New Era cap... the 9Forty is almost identical to the MVP style and construction. Again, I don't own either type, but thank you for the question. If you can try a low profile in store, you could see what you think - but it will be a bit more structured than those others. Good luck!

@dreinthe616
@dreinthe616 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is sometimes tough to tell - but I would pay attention to how much pressure is on the front part of your forehead. Keep the hat on and give the brim a little flexing, to see if that pressure goes away. If it feels better at that point, you're probably in the right size - sometimes just the curve and wearing it will get you enough relief.

They're basically describing the same thing - which is a version of the 59Fifty that is "shorter" than a standard version. Lower overall height, and less volume in the cap - so that it hugs the top of your head a little bit more, especially toward the front of the cap. I believe New Era used to call them "59Fifty Low Crown", but now they are sold as "59Fifty Low Profile". Thanks for the question, and I hope to cover this in an upcoming video.

It starts with the basic hat shape and style that you pick out in the store. The Nationals cap was a 7-3/8, and it was a little small in the store since I am a natural 7-1/2. I then took all three steps shown in my video on stretching and shaping ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn-Qdn9jp9Kaf8U ) to get the size, brim, and top of the crown where I wanted it.
