Well done. I will add that I have the 38mm Tangente Datum and love it. It shares wrist time with my custom built (I'm a watchmaker) 44mm Omega 1151 Triple Date w/Moonphase creation and I love the contrast between them. I bought my daughter the 35mm Tangente (ref. 139) for her new job and the Campus Club Night for college graduation and I could easily wear both. Nomos is such a wonderful brand.

They all look great. I wear a 35mm Nomos Metro Neomatik, which shares the DUW 3001 movement, on my 17cm wrist. I remember trying on the 39mm and it just felt too big and 'dinnerplate-y'. While it's a different model, I agree that most Nomos watches wear large because of their thin bezel and thin side profile. It's been 3 years of daily wear but I still smile every time I look at it. I can't recommend Nomos enough.

Nomos is a great brand! They actually have some hidden gems in their portfolio. I bought my 2nd Nomos about half a year ago after I sold my first one. And I think it's one of these gems - it's a 37 (!) mm Club Campus on their new metal bracelet, open caseback, neomatik movement 3001 AND 200 (!!) m of water resistance. For me it's the best combination of both worlds to have an modern, young & elegant watch but with seriously sporty perks. Btw. their "Nomos Swing System" is much more. In short: They produce EVERY part of this assortment themselves which makes them a serious movement maker. They wanted to be as independent as possible from the Swiss so they decided to produce these key parts of a movement completely on their own along with the technical university of Dresden. This shows imho that Nomos started to invest in their long-term future many years ago. They're here to stay.

Great video! I really do like Nomos and would like to buy one if not for the lug-to-lug length. I've tried on a few over the years and can't pull the trigger. I have the same complaint with Longines. The dial aperture is another measurement that is big for me. Watches like these have a large aperture, or glass size, and it's one measurement that I feel is valuable when picking out a watch. For example, the Rolex Sub at 41mm and the Rolex Explorer 36mm have nearly the same size dial aperture, or glass size, which is right around 30mm. I bet the 35mm Tangente is larger in dial aperture.

Yes I have a tiny 6 point very little wrist, and love to wear tiny vintage pieces anyway. But man I'd never imagine a 33 fitting me. Love the look. Which is why I have a Stowa Antea 39mm. Total goldilocks with the lugs at that diameter. The lugs give it the wrist presence to pull you into that austere bauhaus dial. The Stowa doesn't have an in house movement (which looks fantastic, points Nomos), but they do a nice job finishing the 2824 which makes it a impressive value option in my opinion. That being said, in total agreement if they made the Update in 39mm, I would be all over that watch. Seeing that date change sold me. Count me in for the 'flat circle' time cult. Being the 37 year old aesthetic dinosaur that I am, I will of course tell you how well the 35mm fits your wrist. So classy! However, the 38,5 is equally good looking on you. And I think the reason for this is exactly the controversial shape of the lugs; they do look kind of imposing/awkward, but maybe that's what helps pulling the different diameters closer together, visually. Btw: that kraftwerky background music is spot on!

Even after viewing this video, and knowing Nomos has intentionally long lugs, people still think Nomos needs to “fix” their long lugs so they appear normal and average, like every other watch. The long lugs are a distinguishing feature and (as said in this video) you don’t buy the diameter that fits, you buy the LTL that fits. I’d argue that most people who hate the lugs wouldn’t buy a Nomos even if the lugs were average. Long lugs are here to stay. They’re as much a part of Nomos as Bauhaus-inspired minimalism.

That’s a very cool idea. That must exist, right?

@@YoureTerrific Not to my knowledge. The only watch that comes to mind is something like the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph, but it displays the day, date, and month in standard windows at the top of the dial. I feel like Nomos could probably create a clever dial periphery indicator display for a triple date (and for much less than the Patek!).
@ItsNeverTooHot4Leather2 жыл бұрын
@@YoureTerrific Oh, one other thing, since you mentioned disdain for date windows (I'm a proud member of the date window hater club). I'm waiting for a watch company to produce a watch movement with a crown pusher that would open/close a date window (at 6 o'clock of course). So you could push the crown pusher when you want to see the date, and then push it again to make the dial seamless and not show the date window. That would seem like the perfect solution to the ugly date window problem.
@YoureTerrific2 жыл бұрын
I like that idea, but it’d be very hard to make seamless. But I can think of a few ways of making a closed window blend in.

@@YoureTerrific Yes, you're right. Making the window disappear and create a seamless look would be quite difficult, especially on non-black dials.
