I decided against this icon of Nomos and go with the Ahoi for more sportiness and the Orion for even more dressiness instead. Nomos is and will ever be the brand I‘m paying my full respect for what they’ve done for the German watch industry during the last 30 years! 👍👏👌

more and more REAL watch enthusiasts pay attention for nomos. that´s great! nomos stands for pure and simple design and class + great craftsmanship. the simple design is at the same time nomos´problem. the present world is full of informations, pictures, voices, noise, loudness. this made the present mankind lose the sense for simplicity. the poeple just don´t understand this simplicity :D it sounds paradox, but it isn´t! Nomos is just mindblowing and pure class of watchmaking!

In my small modest collection, my Tangente is the jewel. Everything you said about the craftsmanship is true and then some. It’s virtually impossible to find another watch hand-made, with an in-house movement (including the escapement), at anywhere close to this price. By the way, all Tangentes are 35 mm, not 30. To those who say it is over priced, they simply don’t understand or fully appreciate the watchmaking process and the subtleties thereof. This is also considered by many to be one of those watches that shows the owner knows his watches better than most.

I own a Tangente, and I absolutely love it, particularly the simplicity of the Bauhaus design. Hand-wound movements are my favourite anyway, so the Tangente falls right into my wheelhouse. Great value for sure! Mine is an older model (2011) but the case is 37.5mm wide, so more to my liking than your 30mm model. The only negative things I would say are that it doesn't feature a quickset date (you have to repeatedly move the hands back and forth between 11:45 and 12:00 midnight to change the date) and that because of the long lugs, it doesn't fit every wrist. Fortunately for me, I have a 7.4" wrist, so it fits great in my case. By the way, I'm not German but I believe Stowa is pronounced "Shtova". At least that's how I've heard others pronounce it. I've always been split. Would I rather have a Nomos or a Junghans? Within the last few days, your videos answered my question. Junghans, like the Nomos, makes beautiful watches but Junghans attention to fit and finish is lacking. Go the minimalist route and every detail matters. Junghans is sloppy. This quality of the Nomos is superlative and would be my choice between these two watchmakers. Thank you.

Worn on the wrist it'll self wind no problem. Mine was discounted in a sale and if I recall correctly was less than the Tangente but that may pop up on my list to look at in the future. You should check out the Pagani Design PD-1690. 306L stainless steel case & bracelet, high quality polishing and brushing in all the right areas, solid links with solid end links, screw pins with holes on one side only, 200m water resistance with screw down crown, sapphire crystal with bevelled edge, sunburst dial, date window, applied markers with lume, automatic movement with bi-directional winding, 40 hr power reserve, with a Seiko NH35A movement which in my example is running consistently at +3 secs (not per day just +3 secs). OK so the movement is not going to win any beauty awards, you can tell it’s only adjusted to a few positions and there are a couple of very minor flaws - but for the grand sum of £105 this surely takes the prize of best value watch ever. As an owner of Omega & Rolex this thing just blew my mind to use as an everyday beater watch.

@@timmihendrix1 - One thing I’ve learned about watches is that it’s a very personal choice. We all have different tastes but that’s fine - it would be boring if we were all the same. The main reason I got a PD (specifically the 1690), is that you get such a high spec for the price. For me personally owning an example of the timepiece this tries to resemble is great as I can wear the PD on a daily basis which is 90% identical to my Rolex. But that’s missing the point - the main thing is ‘bang for buck’ and I don’t think there’s better out there - but not any PD - specifically the 1690! What you get for such a small price is astounding especially when you consider the accuracy …

@@DirtFather407 what makes you say it’s definitely better quality? Bar movement, and I’ve handled them side-by-side, I’d say the build quality is pretty much identical. If anything the Stowa feels more substantial for what you’re paying, and has better water resistance (50m vs 30m). Talking a base Tangente vs Antea here. The Nomos is indeed a bit sleeker in design and size.

I hardly dislike subdial placement. It's looks like it stuck to the center with a lot of empty lonely space underneat. It looks weird at best.

Great content like always! Nomos! I was in love with Nomos because of videos like this one and Teddy’s… sadly, i went to an AD here in Tokyo and not one of the watches felt like they were worth the price! They felt like 1000$ or less watches on my hands and wrist… lovely design but for me … they feel cheap. 1000$ watches are not a bad thing… ! I love that segment! BUT! Nomos sells for way more these days! And i think they are over priced just like Sinn has become.

Always amazes me to see bits of detritus free-floating around the movement in some of these macro shots....e.g. 9:25.

I love these watches. However, I drove 2 hours to get to an AD, to get the Ahoi, and the first thing the sales lady said was “these are 7% off and that’s not negotiable.” Short visit…

The brand has lovely watches. I prefer the Club 731, but any model has its beauty. In terms of bang for the buck I think a Khaki auto or mechanical are more valuable although the movement is an ETA.

The video states 'can you find a watch with similar specifications for the same bang for buck'.. Hammys are great, but as you said, no in house movements- in house movements make a huge difference. i have a Khaki, great bang for buck, but not on the same level horologically as an in house Nomos.

If only it had a date. I understand purists prefer a clean dial (especially this one) but especially during the work week, I use the date feature far more often than the time.
