Bunch of city people where everything is underground and on town water and gas and sewer most likely. 811 won't find the line from your propane tank to the house, and they won't find the pipe from your well to the house, and they won't find the pipe from the house to your septic tank, and they won't even look for the overhead lines because you can see them.

Yeah anyone with a modular home and a meter pedestal... anything on your side of the meter they won't locate the underground cables... maybe if you hand them a $50 when they show up lol. For those insisting that 811 will take care of this. This is what I got directly from the local 811 "Any electrical lines past your meter are owned by you, and is your responsibility. These may include power lines running to barns, garages, outdoor lighting, or from your transformer (green box or pedestal) to your home or business. We can only mark up to a meter of underground line if your meter is on a pedestal, and not on your house."

@r.a.1755 Жыл бұрын
You are correct about the city not looking for wires in the back of your house. They already know where the utility lines are when they were first installed. That is all they are going to mark. Any work done post-original build, whether permitted or not, will not be flagged. They will go to the back if that's where the utility lines are 1st laid. Or if you're hiring a private co. to specifically check your property before a new project.

The line he's showing in this video would not get marked on an 811 dispatch. It's the line from his house to his detached garage. In most cases, the electric company's responsibility for locating lines stops at the meter. Anything you put in to an outbuilding, lamppost, etc. is up to you to find using whichever method you can. The video is good info and should stay.

Also, I don’t see a grounding electrode conductor headed to the two required ground rods……all this could be better explained in-depth from watching videos on here
