Thanks for the confirmation of the notions I have regarding sourcing parts, how much to replace, pricing, and a new tool in looking up stuff using the "show sold" on e-bay. Recently got a Kenwood KR9050 for $500 because on e-bay the last one for sale was $3000ish, found out thru "sold" that its about that, or a lot less depending on functionality. Well it really convinced me to go all out, replaced all the caps, lights, found the bad transistors, smoked a couple new ones til I figured out the old ones were CBE and my new ones were BCE. Putting it all back together now, only blew an extra $400 for parts, and repurchasing parts... Was gonna flip it initially, but this is my very first repair and restore, think I might hafta keep it now. Neighbors got a couple of Pioneer CS-99a's strung up in their barn collecting dust and corrosion, might hafta offer to take em off their hands for some "new" speakers.

Thank you so much for your willingness to provide this info. I have an old MC-2205 and saw your photo narrative online. Did you by chance make a list of the caps you ordered for repair? I want to get mine going, but I only have a multimeter. Nothing else fancy for equipment.

Thank you for the kind words. I don't make a parts list as I don't order parts for each unit. I have most all of the parts in stock for a restoration so I just start the next project. Good luck with your 2205 it's a wonderful amplifier.

what about the STK output transistors used in the lower end pioneer sx-80 series
@vintageaudioaddict4 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are some components that are difficult to obtain. Fortunately not that many.

@@vintageaudioaddict any advice on finding the stk 0039 chips I can use in my pioneer sx-680? I contacted a service technician who has very good ratings and has lots of experience with late 70's pioneer gear and he said for the price of replacing all of the capacitors and finding replacement stk output transistors it is not worth it. I love the way this amp looks, its in Amazing cosmetic condition so I am willing to spend anywhere between 125-300$. I know that is defiantly way more than it is worth but that doesn't matter to me. my only concern is the reliability of the replacement stk 0039 chips because I have heard many have terrible experience with them...

I'm from Brazil (South America). I need to replace the function selector key in my Marantz receiver model 2252b because the Phono1 entry is not working. The technician told me that the selector key is broken. . (Marantz 's Service Manual reference Part Number S401) Please some tip about where I can get one? Maybe a used one, of course since it be full operational.

Capacitors and resistors are common. Let’s talk transistors.

True, only place I can find any 2sc series is on eBay. For instance the 2sc2240 is obsolete according to mouser and its not on digikey. So I guess old used ones on eBay is the only choice. Who knows if they’re any good or even the correct specs. It’s frustrating!
