Aah my favourite Rabbi! I am a convert of 33 years. I have been teaching Seminary/Institute and Sunday School for a good 90% of those years. I have been through the standard works multiple times. Rabbi Joe offers a different and fresh perspective and helps me find a new awareness and appreciation for how the Book of Mormon is written and to be understood. Thank you for allowing us to catch a glimpse from a Jewish perspective. You have a beautiful mind.

Thank you Rabbi Joe. You've helped me to understand that I need to slow down in my scripture study to understand the meaning of each word and phrase. I've been studying with a dictionary beside me for a number of years. But now, I realize that it's more than just the 'big' words that are important. Each word and phrase is critical for context, understanding, and spiritual growth. Thank you again.

I love these episodes because I often find myself focusing on just one verse. When I have taught, I worry about not covering all the material, but some of the verses compel me to look deeper. Rabbi, you have taught me that sharing insights from just one or two verses is sometimes exactly what we need. I will have more confidence in the power behind one thought.

Thank you Rabbi Joe and Benjamin, along with the SC crew, for bringing new insight every week. From Taylor and Tyler, to John W. Welch & Dr. Lynne Wilson, the deeper knowledge shared is a true blessing for me, and many others. Rabbi Joe, we are honored to learn from your teachings and wonderful Jewish cognizance that is woven into the Book of Mormon. May the Lord continue to bless all of those working with Scripture Central, both on camera and off camera. The work truly is going forth!

It's so hard for me to reach out to others when I know of their suffering because I don't want to offend. Although when I've needed support and someone reached out, I'll never forget the love I felt from God because I was seen . Thank you Rabbi

Quiero expresar en mi propia lengua la gratitud que siento al escuchar al Rabino Joe. Me encanta aprender de su forma de analizar las escrituras y lo importantes que son cada una de las palabras escritas por los profetas. Su hablar pausado hace que sea fácil para mi entender sus palabras. Muchas Gracias y saludos desde Argentina.

I have always loved reading all scriptures. I have always taken my time in reading a scripture sometimes i would find myself re-reading it and pondering and finding myself looking deeper. This week and listen to Rabbi Joe I came to understand that I need to take a more deeper dive and slow down a bit more and find each "Word" is the seed. Thank you so so much. Rabbi Joe you gave me a new Zeal to dive deeper in to the Scriptures. 📚😃

Someone may have already mentioned this before but Elder Cook in his talk In Tune with the Music of Faith, quoted Mark Twain as saying if they took out the phrase "and it came to pass" from the Book of Mormon would be a pamphlet. Thank you Rabbi Charnes for your enlightenment on Hebraisms. I went back to Alma 17:1 where you also talked about this phrase. This is such fun to hear your take on these things. Great pod cast. Thank you Scripture Central and Rabbi Joe.

Thank you, Rabbi Joe Charnes for sharing your wisdom and reflections as you read and ponder this sacred text. Alma 32 is such a deeply rich and wonderful text in so many ways. As a 14 year old young lad I let this word be planted in my heart and I gave it the nourishment it needed and I knew the word was good and right. To this day those swelling motions in my breast occur every day as I interact with the Book of Mormon and learn from pondering its many messages.

Rabbi Joe, you brought me up sharp with your statement that we are all asleep in our worship. I regret to say that I often actually am asleep when I am in the Temple. I try so hard not to fall asleep, but I usually do. But I am resolved to "arouse" my faculties as you and Alma have exhorted. I will try to memorise that verse and repeat it to myself in the Temple.

It is quite enervating to hear this rabbi call these scriptures in Alma as holy and as the word of God. I can feel the Spirit as I listen to our cousin share a rabbinic approach that better facilitates the study and searching of God’s word. Nice.

I have often wondered if a Jewish perspective would help me understand these passages better. They lived in many ways more like you. Thank you for bringing so much fresh insight and wisdom to these passages. You really help me slow down and reconsider what they wanted us to learn from this. It's not a boring history lesson; it's a lesson on how we can draw closer to the divine. An invitation to live a more inspired life. I love how you help me apply the scriptures to my own life. Thank you for sharing your perspective and insights.
