I suspect that the single edged weapons were what we call Seaxes from which is derived 'Saxon' as a people know to use them.

These people came from mälardalen, swedes. The DNA extraction from their teeth points to that, and the archaeological findings too ofcourse.
@joonte10105 жыл бұрын
Also, they were not out on a raid but on a diplomat mission (perhaps to propose a marriage or create trading rights?) with elit warriors as guards. or so the historians think based on the findings.

@@joonte1010 There is now an documentary series about Salme ships running in Estonian TV. The dramatization there is built around story that they were passing through on their way to/from Black Sea (across rivers in Western Russia) and that it might have been an conflict between two Viking groups. That would explain why viking burial was provided - locals wouldn't have had the motivation to put in such an effort or be familiar with funeral tradition. Of course, that's an speculation.

Viking ancestors blood runs in estonian people. They should celebrate who they are, forget the UN and Russian times.

@@TheCosticit makes sense! After all, the map shows only two bordering countries- Russia and Latvia. Came here after watching Viking Dead, episode 3. Very dry presentation. Don't think this dude should get his PhD. 😆😆
