I’ll definitely go and donate since I myself kinda got thrown out my home as well (but it’s not that bad, I found a place to live in the end and it looks like my family starts to see how shitty they were, so I’m not 100% on my own with everything) and trying to handle everything by yourself can be stress- and angst inducing. I hope she finds an own apartment for herself and her cat soon to start anew, and that she never has to see or hear from her parents again. As an ex-homeless person myself seeing this update and the crowdfunding really warms my heart. The circumstances in which many people find themselves homeless is often beyond their control, and Meru-san is such a person. I struggled for many years because I had no one to talk to. Providing a listening ear as you have done Nobita-san can literally be life saving moment, thank you for doing this. You made the world a bit better. I donated what I can miss, I wished it was more, but I am very grateful that it is such a huge success. I wish Meru-san all the best and happiness in life.
@Remco.S3 жыл бұрын
@C- clearly you have never suffered through homelessness, and I hope you never will. But you have a "classic" view of what a homeless person must look like. The fact that you consider her attractive and therefore a reason as to why she can't be homeless shows your lack of empathy. Also, if you had watched Nobita-san his original video with Meru-san you would know that she struggles with her mental illness, which is an illness that doesn't show on the outside, another unfounded assumption on your part. Lots of governments around the world think young people don't have problems that can lead to homelessness and brush them of because of that. And by putting up extra bureaucratic barriers the problems faced by young homeless people is needlessly worsened, something I have experience myself. Once you loose your ID you are effectively stateless, and no one wants to help, because rules are put in place to prevent that. Despite that, there are often ways for homeless people to find some basic level care trough local ngo's but their resources are limited and again bound by government rules. Surviving is one thing, living is another. And I don't believe her story blindly but because I have lived through years of being homeless myself I recognise her plight and her experiences. You being "overly critical" doesn't make you right, it makes you cynical and unable to put yourself in the shoes of another person.

@Saatvik Bakshi I was homeless in the Netherlands, so I can only speak for that country. But during the day you can make use of the toilets in some public locations like libraries. Bigger cities have some facilities where homeless people can shower, wash clothes and get some basic level help with getting your life back on track. These facilities also offer food and a place to sleep, but not for free. So even though you can get help the monetary aspect towards it makes it very difficult. A bit simplified but I hope it helps you. Thanks for asking.

My father told me pretty much "have a nice life" soon after I became an adult and was living in a different state just because I missed two phone calls during work. Haven't spoken to him in nearly 6 years, so I can understand just how hard it is for her to have that parental neglect.... but she has it so much worse than I do-- I'm lucky enough that it was just my father that cut me out and that my parents had been divorced for two decades so I still have the support from my mother... but this girl lost both of her parents, which is truly heartbreaking because Japanese culture is such a social and communal interaction that without that familial unit, a lot of young people are at a severe disadvantage when something cataclysmic happens to the family unit. I mean, compared to America or other countries, Japan has one of the lowest homeless populations, but the disparaging effects of homelessness are much worse in Japan because there is this notion of "oh you can't be homeless, just go back to your parents or your grandparents even" because this idea of familial support is so strong in Japan that we see cases like Meru, where Meru is actually blamed for being homeless as just being this stubborn girl who can go back to her family at any time and just be a bit more pious to her parents and exhibit that filial piety.

My sister would walk by and have people masterbate or cat call her, and when her husband walked with a stroller homeless would approach asking what's in the stroller. It's a shit show. I do not have empathy for sympathy for the homeless population in LA, they're' dirty and are a health liability. Thus LA homeless people is not something to care for, I'm sure many feels the this. You have to live here to feel it. In Tokyo, or ANY country that citizens have a high sense of self-accountability you would see a bit more cleanliness or at least try to be. They talk more coherently and TRY to adapt as much as possible with little or nothing.
@dominicrossitto58903 жыл бұрын
@@ReassuringSmile Just my two cents and personal experience here: Drugs are the worst, let me get that out of the way. I never drank alcohol, did any drugs, never even smoked a cigarette, because I have seen what all that can lead too. I have seen people loose everything to addiction ( including gambling,.....specifically an older cousin with money, an engineer who actually worked for Honeywell), or just poor decisions. And choosing to partake in drugs is a very poor decision. I never understood why so many people who have actually paid attention to all this, decide to start using heroin, crack or meth, etc. and they seem to think that THEY are immune to addiction. 🤷♂️ With THAT out of the way, a HUGE problem with the homeless here in the U.S. is the large number of people on the streets with some type of mental illness. People would be surprised the number of former military personnel with PTSD that end up on the streets as well,...and the number of WOMEN with PTSD that become homeless is more than DOUBLE that of men. But even here in Phoenix, you can go to some areas in Downtown and see people walking up to people and doing exactly what you have mentioned,...but not in the massive numbers like in L.A. I saw a man unzip his pants 👖 and just urinate 💦 right on the sidewalk in front of people. And I believe that in the case of this young woman, having a mental health issue (ALONG with horrible parents) is due to social issues in Japan. My sister has lived in Japan for over 30 years and she works with many Nonprofit Organizations and Nongovernmental Organizations (NPOs and NGOs). She has mentioned how so many people are ashamed if a family member has a mental health illness, so they try to hide the fact and that can make it very difficult for these individuals to receive help. In addition to this, many homeless in Japan who DO NOT have mental health illnesses can feel a sense of shame or guilt and it can be very difficult for them personally to reach out for assistance. My main point is that many people who end up on the streets DO have mental health issues. I have two friends whom are bipolar one was homeless for a while and it was through no fault of his own. The medication he was on curbed his temperament, but he started to become delusional. For those who do end up on the streets with these mental issues, I can only feel for them.

Good for u. I have mental illness myself, so I understand her situation. I have Aspergers (a mild form of autism). Everyone hates me.. I have emotional issues (I cry everyday since I was a kid, my mom used to call me stupid for every single thing I did, she always said "why are you so stupid, you should die", and she also compared me to my cousin all the time, she always complained that how come I couldn't be as smart, sweet talk, social and likable as her. I cried everyday, I even thought about killing myself a few times, her abusive words still haunt me even after she died more than 10 years ago, I still cry about 3 times a day now when I thought of all the abusive words she said to me all these years. Though, i couldn't really blame her, it is difficult to raise children, let alone a mental one (i think my parents have mental illnesses too because they also have most of these symptoms too). these are my symptoms: emotional problems, I had behavioral problems & I was kind of slow when I was a kid , but it had gotten a lot better now. I also have social anxiety issues, mood swings, I get depressed all the time, and I also lack social cues ( I sometimes offend people without even knowing why people are mad at me). Due to the above reasons, everyone hates me, and I stay alone all the time, so I don't have to see people’s "rejection" faces. I am not as successful as you are though

It was more than a lack of will. I forgot which video, maybe the previous one, where she said her parents were abusive (the father especially was violent) and had been throwing her out of the house since she was a kid, because she had developmental problems and didn't fit in. Some people really shouldn't be parents. The previous video also talked about how children don't have rights in Japan, and the country spends little on their education and other services. Even if the parents are good people, they earn less income and have less job security (they could be laid off when the company/economy doesn't do well), adding to stress/pressure/burden as well as fear of not making ends meet. With a low birth rate, the country is doing a crappy job at providing for basic needs, much less preparing the next generation to take over the reins of leadership and the economy.

She can't buy anything in Tokyo even outside of the city but she has enough for rent for 4-5 years which should help her get her life on track. Even the cheaper parts of Japan cost 150k+ for a small apartment. She would have enough for a down payment but no bank would offer her a loan for a mortage. She should consider moving away from Tokyo since the cost of living there is crazy. With how the donations are going she could get a comfortable place anywhere but in the end she should invest some of the money into her health. She needs therapy and medication for her disorder. Hopefully she can get that so she can find some stability for once in her life
@sn4tx3 жыл бұрын
@@nateg5505 I agree. That’s exactly what I was thinking. She should move away. Technically she could buy many places with that sort of money. But problem she also needs to stay around somewhere where she can still do something for a living, she can’t just buy some old house in country side Japan all by herself, and then what? Nobita, I strongly suggest you find a trustee or something to manage the funds you are raising for this girl rather than turning it all over to her at once. With her mental and emotional struggles, it might be very difficult for her to manage that much money in a fashion that is beneficial for the long term. Setting up some sort of trust that grants a decent monthly figure each month could allow for enough for basic necessities for two or three years based on the amount of the gofundme right now, maybe even longer if she can find and hold a job. I'm not sure how much such a trustee would charge to manage the fund in Japan, though. I feel like this would be a superior option over turning all the funds over to her and having portions of it wasted on impulse purchases or by people taking advantage of her.

Hopefully the $90K will last her awhile while she gets her mental disorder paperwork filled out and then it's automatic Financial Benfits which I don't want to call welfare because I'm on the same thing in life have BPD or same disorder she has minus a Go Get Funding online Drive and receive almost $1700. a month for being mentally handicapped a lot different from the $400 welfare gives for the single male with the same mental disorder status.
