The haircut tip is what did it for me!! I knew every single tip you thoroughly explained but I still felt as I was missing something like the main key and the haircut tip is exactly that!!! I had my first salon haircut in the beginning of this year and she did a great job being the only stylist in my small white town that could (kind of) work with natural hair (I have 3b-3c) but she wouldn’t stop talking about layers for volume as I expressed I have low density AND fine hair and I ended up with lots of layers which looked great but the layers went all the way up to the top half of my head. Even after all the volume that gave me, I still felt like I wasn’t achieving the full potential of my hair so thank you so so so much for explaining everything so thoroughly and sharing these wonderful tips in the first place. I’m going to continue to keep these tips in mind and now make sure my layers are in the lower half of my head🤎

@@StephanieMero, are you able to recommend hair cutters who are good at cutting fine low density curly hair in Westchester, NY?
@Dogandcatmom512 жыл бұрын
Can you please talk about the benefits and drawbacks of different cutting techniques, like Ouidad and Devacurl, for fine, low density curly hair? Also, can you please recommend styling products for fine low density curly hair that needs added weight from products because the hair is too light and fluffy and curly otherwise?

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us! I'm sure many of us know all too well that many of the "well-known" curl styling techniques we see on social media simply cannot work with our fine, low-density curls! I learned the hard way that "raking" my hair at all results in horribly stringy-looking curls whereas cupping from the bottom helps them clump together appropriately. The trial and error is exhausting but worth it!

Great advice and makes sense. As 2b/2c fine and relatively thin hair, i was wondering why vertical denman brush curl technique resulted in straighter flat top of crown area. I will now try more horizontal orientation and upside down diffuser. You are right about stylists not being experts in wavy fine hair. They all tell me to put layers in. Nope...learned my lesson long ago when layers took years to grow back out. Never again.

ive had so many bad haircuts because my hair is curly and low density, thin, fine. i end up with mullets or if they put layers in i end up with what i call the mushroom with all the curls up top and then long straggly bits as the layers are too far apart and top layer too short.

Thanks so much for these tips! Having low density fine wavy hair, I know it's a real struggle. I have an additional question, is there a way to cut that small layer at the bottom of my hair myself? I'm used to cutting my own hair, because there are no curly hairdressers in my region.

Thank you for this! I just subscribed! I follow these steps and have beautiful volume for 4 hours after drying. Then my hair gets super frizzy, weighed down and hair goes limp and straightens (I have fine, low density, high porosity hair with a loose curl pattern). I still have some volume left but not nearly as much. How can I keep the volume and the curl?
@StephanieMero2 жыл бұрын
It’s honestly hard for me to perfectly prescribe what the solution would be. It could just be gravity doing it’s thing or it’s possible you could use lighter weight products and/or products with a stronger hold that would help prolong the lifetime of your style. It’s hard to say!
@taniyabose0012 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for a wonderful content! Do you suggest to work out styling product should be applied on damp hair instead of soaking wet? Also for restyling can we use product on dry hair instead of wetting the hair again
@StephanieMero2 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! How much water you use to apply products really depends on what products you’re using and what you’re trying to achieve and how much time you have for drying, so there really isn’t a rule. It’s more of a trial and error thing.
@StephanieMero2 жыл бұрын
For restyling you need to add water unless the product you’re using has a high water content and won’t overly weigh your hair down if not diluted with additional water!

Thank you so much for this!!! When you diffuse should you use medium heat and high speed? On low speed it feels like forever for my hair to dry even though I don’t have a lot of it lol. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
@StephanieMero2 жыл бұрын
Every dryer is different and everyone’s hair is different BUT the goal is to use the highest speed possible that won’t cause your hair to fly around. You can also adjust how close you hold the diffuser to your hair if you’re not directly touching it to your hair to manage speed (using my cup and hover technique from Cracking the Curl Code!)

My top half of my head has 2c 3a type of waves from my dad, and my lower half of my head is almost straight like my mom's hair *lol 😄 .. both had fine hair type, so yess I have very low density + fine hair texture with two swirls at the back of my head🙃I did big chop, curl training, apply products for the last 3 years, and my lower part of hair doesn't change so I accept the fact that each of my parents claimed their spots of their genes on my head by 50-50 😁

Can you do a video more on finding a good stylist? I've had a couple diva cuts and they were great for the first month and then not . I have very fine hair that does that typical A look , and just don't trust finding someone that will cut it properly so that it doesn't end up looking way shorter because they said they understand but don't understand shrinkage lol ... I am in Canda and all the amazing styles must be in the states
@runpainfree Жыл бұрын
Just had my 3rd fix cut at ouidad and they’ve thinned out my hair and the wavy is now cut out completely. I have silky water holding fine but a lot of wavy curly and now straight hair on my head so now the curly is more curly and the wavy is straight. It was “cut in the curve” also. I like all the stylists but if you can’t cut actual different ptterns they shouldnt cut extreme different pattern hair like mine. Been getting terrible cuts since 2018, in nyc go figure. what can i do for the straight now?

What would you suggest to tame the frizz on fine thin low density hair wavy long hair? I wash my hair and condition it . I don't go to sleep until its totally dry. Get up the next day whether I use my fingers,comb or brush it's all frizz?
@lindsayface4750 Жыл бұрын
I know this is old, but are you using sleep protection? Do you use a satin/silk bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase to protect your hair while sleeping? If not, that’s very likely your answer.
