I have a SE, for about 2 or 3 months. I didn't have such stringings, but I immediately updated the firmware first thing. Also I leveled the bed as accurately as I could, by touching screws so every number be green at least. also sanded one or 2 of plastic bushings for this. My accelerations are stlll 4000, But software fixes those I guess. My tips to correct all of those you mentioned: 1- Use only CrealityPrint, not the modified Cura. I have also recently used OrcaSlicer and it works too, a good option as none of PrusaSlicer and else have included SE yet. 2- A retraction of 0.8 works on most PLA, I actually don't touch defaults unless I have a Filament with another temp or need supports and infill. 3- About zits and blobs. While everyone accuses "memory savings" and "recovery after poweloss" and they are somehow right, it is Creality's fault. I had such problems and noticed smething another KZbinr mentioned. The SDCard Creality includded in the package is all the problem. It is a very low quality memory and low speed. After lots of problems with blobs and artifacts on the prints, I had it and inserted my highspeed SDCard from my Drone, a Samsung EVO, and I absolutely don't have any single zits anymore. SE processor has the capability to read and write fast to SDCard, but the included SD is so low quality it destroys prints. Just my 2 cents.

@PaymaanJafari
@PaymaanJafari 4 ай бұрын
@@donisio8697 Cura, OrcaSlicer, both can print on v3SE now, specially the recent version of Cura, and they have features I really like, but stringing remains. Creality Print does not make stringings possibly because of finer settings. But it does not have many of features others have.

@@chasepeterson930 The provided SD and even the reader are trouble, I used my Drone's EVO SD card first to prove zits and blobs are memory problems, and then used a 6 year old but fast 16GB card as my regular. Any average SD does far better than the provided one.

I've been troubleshooting my KE's for 2 days and I was about to return those to Amazon. Tried everything possible including your very helpful tutorial. It was still stringing like no tomorrow. Just for those that can't figure it out (and hopefully it might help someone), change the nozzle for a new one!!! I am not even kidding! Because of the slight nozzle dragging on the prints (and infills), the nozzle diameter was not 0.4mm anymore. So, because it was a tiny bit larger, there was a tiny excess of filament coming out of the nozzle which created the stringing. In addition, give it something like 0.2mm Z hop and disable Reduce infill retraction to increase the nozzle lifespan. Now, I am feeling soooo good! Those new V3s are such nice 3D printers.

I got one some days ago. I was blown away by the easiness of the setup and the results of the first prints. For the slicer, there is an existing profile for the SE, and from what I see, it does pretty well the job. Going from -2.53 to -2.56 lowered the nozzle (you are going down when it is a negative number, so the greater the number the lower the nozzle is/closer to the print bed). To raise it with a negative number you need to decrease the number, so -2.53 would become -2.50 to raise the nozzle. :)

Your video was very interesting and I would think it would be very helpful to anybody with a 3d printer who is experiencing similar problems. Well, I got some bad news. I DL'ed your bed leveling test print, and just to get a base line, I printed it without changing any of the stock settings, and the print quality was perfect. I then did the same print with your suggested settings, and the test print was again, perfect. With that, I printed a string retraction tower that I found on thingiverse, which was almost flawless. The little bit of stringing that it had was so fine that, walking from my printer to my desk, less than 10 feet, the stringing fell off from the breeze I created by walking. That's where the good news ends. I tried printing something, and it failed within the first maybe 10 layers. The print actually got caught up on the nozzle, and pulled up off the bed. I always ran PLA on my E5+ at bed temp 60, and nozzle temp at 200, so I set those temps in Cura 5.4, and left everything else alone. I then reset the printer back to original settings, and ran your bed leveling test print, and it looked good, so I tried printing the same file, and once again, the print failed within the first 10 layers, with the same results as the first failure. Now I am stumped with what appears to be a boat anchor for a printer. UPDATE.......I just printed the string retraction tower that I mentioned earlier with the printer's settings being all restored to original settings, gcode left alone so bed temp 200, nozzle is 60, and it turned out better than it did the first time. Obviously the piece that failed has a bed gcode. I'll mess with this some more tomorrow.

Your printer is clearly extruding too much material. Look at the top layer of that base. You can see some material being squished up between the roof lines. I'd suggest you calibrate the extruder before changing anything else. Also it could be mostly a Z offset problem, as you said. Changing movement speeds reduces automaticaly the filament extrusion speed and amount, which I think is the initial and main problem, above all others.

@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors Should I choose the Ender 3 V3 SE printer now that they have it available or stick with the Ender 3 v2? Also what version of Cura are you using in this video / what version of Cura should I be using ?

great vid, crazy that creality released such a solid printer for the price (got it for 160 on black friday) and half baked the firmware. still, love it so far, after adjusting this and some other settings it's great

Got my V3 SE a couple days ago. Done several prints with the out of box settings with absolutely zero issue and no stringing. I run auto leveling first before any prints were done but that's it.

Tom, Can you please tell us how is the printer time affected with these settings? Also, how do they differ between Cura slicer and Creality print? Thank you very much.

I have been using mine for about a month also and I have had great print quality with Creality print the speeds and the max acceleration have not been an issue, but what I did do was to create a better first layer but I did edit the first layer tiles And did a 12 point layer print you can do this under the same settings in motion and adjust the tiles

just jumping back into 3d printing - been having issues with whispy "angel hair" strings - this was driving me up a wall.. mine were almost exactly like your firmware settings....adjusted them WAY down and messed with the profiles in cura and i only have a few whispy things now on the 2 towers retraction test... going to play around some more, but i'll take 2-3 whisps over the few dozen i had on a 2" part! :) thank you!

Things may of changed, but from my experience of Cura it *doesn't* override the acceleration settings and will just go at whatever the firmware is set to. Prusha slicer does set its own based on what the settings in Prusha are set to. 4000 is stupidly way too high and is just set to make what is in effect a slightly upgraded Ender 3 design seem like the best thing since sliced bread. My own upgraded Ender 3 Pro runs at 2000 acceleration and around 500 speed and it produces beautiful prints, although the slicer sets a max speed of 150.

I fixed it with changing retracting from 1.2 mm default to 5 mm. Regarding the acceleration, the V2 and the V3 are actually not really that similar. Creality themselves state that the V2 can, technically (and they explicitely say "technically") up to 200 mm/s, whereas the V3 can print 250 mm/s. The accelerations are actually meant to be higher. Nevertheless, changing those settings might solve the problem, but it may also reduce performance. Personally I will upgrade mine from Marlin to Klipper, installing the nebula pad instead of the old screen, this levels it up close to the V3 KE, improving print times and maybe getting rid of the little stringing I still have left on mine.

[TRY THIS] hi, i just playing with the setting and i find that speed can be high. and all you need to set to make stringing disapear are : 1. set the retraction distance to : 5.5 - 6 mm 2. set the retraction speed to : 65 - 70 mm/s it work well for me with default acceleration at 4000 and default speed from ender 3v3 se. let me know if your stringing proble are solved.

With retractions that long you're pulling molten filament up into the heat break. It'll block up quickly.
@ayo3dprint
@ayo3dprint 7 ай бұрын
@@frankhovis I think so, but with the retraction speed it work like vacuum and make strings gone.. I run it about a week and nothing bad side effects, I will update later after a month and more
