@@FinePointsBookkeeping Thanks! I actually passed my QBO certification test the same night I left the original comment. To answer your question about BBL, I think it's a phenomenal program. It really teaches you everything that you need to know and much more about being a bookkeeping professional from a technical standpoint, as well as providing a pretty comprehensive step by step guide on starting a bookkeeping business. They also provide a great support system from the student success team as well as fellow students, so you don't feel alone. I had zero experience with bookkeeping before I started two months ago, now I'm certified from their program as well as QBO today, and Its all because of BBL. Although due to a few circumstances in my life finding prospective clients may be a challenge, I can honestly say that BBL was a fantastic investment of my time and money and I would highly recommend it.

I’m going to watch every video that you have (I’m well into them now) and do the Quickbooks Pro training. My goal is to continue to work for my boss as a bookkeeper now and get Quickbooks accredited by January 1. I’m thinking of a name and I’ve given myself the four months to have a good, clear plan pulled together. I love your videos and I Th ink you’re great. You remind me of myself in so many ways! I am so excited for the future! I ran across your video by chance and I had been racking my brain about what I could do from home. I'm jumping back into bookkeeping as a full time freelancer and I'd like a little advise on how I can brush up on my skills. Congrats on getting in to bookkeeping again! It's such a great, flexible job. What type of things do you feel like you need to brush up on? If it's Quickbooks, I'd recommend signing up for Quickbooks Online Accountant and going through their training to be a ProAdvisor. It is free (make sure you get the Online Accountant version!). I'm planning to do a video on this soon because it's a question I often get. Also, just remember that there is a learning curve any time you start working for a new client--every client's business is different, but after you learn the nuances, you'll wonder why you were so nervous in the first place. Thank you for your videos. I'm binge watching a lot of them to gain more knowledge. I have a question, when charging a client...are you charging them for each hour you work for them? do you use toggle to track your time when working for them? do you track your time and charge your clients when answering their emails and phone calls and zoom meetings? do you charge your clients for face to face meetings (your normal hourly rate)? I'm in the process of starting my own Bookkeeping business with Quickbooks Online, but I'm still having trouble with choosing an industry to specialize in because I only have a general knowledge from graduating with an Associates Degree.

Starting out, I recommend trying different industries and seeing what you enjoy. Or, if you have any personal connections/knowledge/hobbies that may be a good place to start because you may have an existing network there. Hope that helps!

I enjoy your videos very much. Just a thought...i listen to them with headphones, and when you are speaking I have to turn the volume way up in order to hear what you are saying, then at the end of the video your music kicks on and it blasts my ears. The music is fine, just mix the volume so its more balanced. :)

How do u organize a bussiness who dosnt have a set pay schedule. They provide a services. But sometimes dont get paid within a month or so. And employees expect their paychecks weekly. ?? What are ur thoughts?

If I understand correctly, I think your question is about having an inconsistent income and being able to cover expenses (like employee wages). In this case I would recommend building a significant savings/slush fund so that you're able to get ahead of expenses. Then it won't matter as much if the income is sometimes delayed. One option also may be to have clients pay ahead of time for services (depending on the industry). Hope that helps!

I prefer Dell or other PC products--in my experience that is more common to bookkeeping/accounting. There are different versions of QBs for PC/Apple, so make sure you get the correct one. If the majority of your industry uses apple products (design, for example), then you may want to go in that direction.

I've heard great things about it! I haven't taken it myself, so I can't speak from personal experience, but I know it has a good reputation among bookkeeper. I think it is kind of pricey, so it just depends on if it is worth the value added. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
