Totally agree with what he says about our bluegills here in Iowa in winter. The really nice ones you have to use very small jigs, ultra light line, and good electronics. Sometimes I resort to sight fishing inside my shack.

I like corn bores they're a lot tougher I have fished side by side with guys using waxies and I do just as well and can catch 3 or 4 fish on one bore while they have to change bait after every bite

Because you don't need to take fish home every time you go out on the ice. Eat what you have in the freezer first.

I have been watching a few videos on Blue Gill fishing and everyone I watch, it looks like the guys fishing do not worry about the tip of the hook showing. As a kid I was always taught to make sure the tip of the hook is covered. Is it not necessary?

+Clifton Dickinson no we have never found it necessary unless we were fishing for pressured trout in really clear water. Get way better hooking percentage with the hook exposed.

Why does everyone always throw fish back in fishing shows?

Because people in the comments section jump on them if they don't. Jumping on them is stupid, it is not great conservation, it can destroy an ecosystem, but just about everyone today learns all they know from KZbin, which means they don't know much. Catch and release comes from rare fish, and from tournament fishing rules, not from any common sense in day to day fishing, but too many simply have no clue.

James Ritchie I think the person that has no clue is you dude. You act like people have to keep fish. I rarely do unless it’s bluegill or crappie in the winter and it’s usually not even a limit per season. Some people just like to see what they can they catch. You know, have fun and all....

Is there such a thing as a fisherman who actually knows how to fish without letting electronics do the hard part for them? It sure doesn't seem so. Anther ten years and you can just stay home, and the electronics will go fund the fish, catch the fish, bring the fish home, and fry them. There's no sportsmanship in electronics, and no need to learn anything about fish, lakes, weather, or anything else.

James Ritchie you could not be more wrong. If anything, new forms of technology help fisherman learn more about the body of water that they are fishing, the way that fish interact specific to the ecosystem in which they are found, and the way that one must fish in order to be successful. Even the most simple technology can provide today’s anglers with knowledge that they would otherwise not be able to obtain, and ultimately provide a much more enjoyable experience
