Yes this has answered my question. I used to do this all the time as a kid but never learned how to connect it to anything so I just always had long strands of pretty knitting,...kind of boring. So happy to find this. Im not a knitter or a crochet something about tools in one had and working the other hand and in and out messes with my flexibility of my mind, or lack thereof.

I went back and watched the video again and read the written instructions. I think I've got it?;) you are starting at the end of a row/cord where we usually bind off? Would you mind telling us how many yards of yarn it took for a regular 45x60 throw size blanket? I know skeins are all different sizes. I've got two skeins of bulky yarn, 111 yards each. Was going to use two yarns at one time, will I likely need more skeins than these? I've never added/tied on a new yarn in the middle of knitting..very new to this;) thanks!!

Loved the video thanks for explaining. I enjoy finger knitting and I used to create lengths of 'ropes' and would then finger crochet them together to create the blanket or widened scarf. I love this technique!! after watching the video I have already made one full cowl and am half way through a blanket for my niece's favorite doll. I've always preferred finger knitting, I have better control. you are not in the least confusing, however, this video is good for people who are familiar with finger knitting techniques, I can see how beginners would be confused. (took me years to understand how to knit!) :)

I made a link, the way I learned how to finger knit and followed your directions. It looked great except for the fact that it was apparent it was two different styles. It might be helpful for me and maybe some others, to show how you start this project and the technique you use to start your very first row.

Great Video, I have made scarves but this looks like a way better way to do it. do you have one or know of one to add on another skein when one runs our rather than tying it off and starting a whole new one?

GrummysGirl614 You can leave a long tail and then add a slip knot to your finger of the new ball. Then weave in the tails later.

Thank you so much for this video, you are a great teacher, i was able to easily follow your steps, but i have a question how do i switch colors from row to row, i wanna add another color to my blanket :)
@GoodKnitKisses10 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Hmm well the answer is I'm not sure. Its because it depends on which you are talking about for rows. Because the way the finger knit stripes or panels are added, they could be seen as a row, even though they are several rows long. You could make a strip in one color and then when you turn your work to connect, and add more rows, just bind off all the other color. then cast on with the new color and place a loop on your pinkie to start the connection. That might be the easier way to do it. You can also place a slip knot on your finger of the new color and keep going with the new. just weave in the tails of the colors later. if you are changing often you might could twist the yarn to carry the other color in the back but this will create large loops and it will put those in the front and back of the blanket since it keeps flipping. I may have said way too much so just re-read over it all and I do hope that helps. I would encourage you to test a small sample first to see which works bed for you instead of a giant piece.

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm a bit backed up at the moment. However I do have a finger knitting video with a different stitch type but you can use this cast on and stitch repeated to get the first town of knitting done. Yes, i am using 3 strands at the same time. It is from one ball of yarn at a time. I have a video on how to pull 3 from one ball at the same time to make it easier than pulling from three and getting tangled though. Please see video description for links to other videos referenced. :-)

Thank you so much for sharing this video it has really helped ! I am currently making a scarf with the pattern you demonstrated in the video. I just so happened to make my scarf to short !! :( I need to find a way to make it longer. Please help!!!
@GoodKnitKisses10 жыл бұрын
Oh no! I'm so sorry. I have been on winder vacation. I'm sorry to hear your scarf is too short! :-( I could suggest you make another and add to the end when done but it would have a seam. If you leave it as is you could just add on widths and connect the ends. It would likely look like a tall cowl/neckwarmer. Then just make another that is the length of scarf you desire. I suggest making your first length the length you want the scarf and add a few inches. That or make the first length of knitting the width you want the scarf and add on to make the length. so basically you are making sideways (as it would look for the before mentioned cowl). I hope that makes sense.

Hi I have got so far with this blanket but one edge of my blanket is curving upwards and the other side is not? I don't understand as I have followed exactly your instructions. How do i stop it from curling?
@GoodKnitKisses9 жыл бұрын
one length will curl but when its flipped and attached it will stop the curl. To prevent this you can fold over the edges when done and tack them down by sewing into place. or sew on a ned strip that alternates knit and purl stitches that will combat curling. Check out videos I have on loom knitting that show the purl stitch. There are also videos on the garter stitch that will help. :-)

How long should the link be to make a blanket
@GoodKnitKisses5 жыл бұрын
You can make as long as you like. Then just match all the other parts to that length. I have a blanket chart on my website that may help you decide. www.goodknitkisses.com/Resources/blanket-sizes-chart/

im totally confused..... i have the basics of finger knitting, but i hv no idea how to make it wide (like for an infinity scarf or blanket or a wide scarf) at all.. in just continues length wise. Is there a video showing how to do that as well, as in, bind of the ends, connect them and start a new "row" GoodKnitKisses
@GoodKnitKisses10 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry for the delay. I've been on vacation. You would make the length you wanted, connect to get the width then bind off as shown in the video and cut a long strand and pull through the last loop. Using a tapestry needle just thread the long strand and sew up the two ends together to make your infinity scarf.

how did you start this blanket
@GoodKnitKisses10 жыл бұрын
Hello, please see the link in my description above. It has a link to a finger knitting tutorial. I do talk about it in the beginning of this video that you will need to make the length of your blanket, with the finger knit cord, and then turn on this video here and learn how to bind-off the last four stitches from that cord; then start the blanket.

No I do have a finger knitting video with a different stitch type but you can use this cast on and stitch repeated to get the first town of knitting done

Without seeing the start, I have no way how to widen the stitch. Or how you ended the row with a bind off. Or why your stich would start on the pointer finger. Would really love a full tutorial.

+Martina Castro If you go back and watch how she begins adding on the new row, she states to skip, what I call the first long leg, a knot (or knee), then pick up the next long loop. I hope that helps. This technique will take some practice. I am thinking.

how do u start it
@GoodKnitKisses7 жыл бұрын
Kathy Brewer sorry. as I say in the beginning there are many ways to finger knit. I’m just showing one. You can use a preferred way. If you want to make it like I do start with a slip knot on your left finger. Now jump to minute 5:04 to see how to cast on the other 3 stitches. Pause the video. Then Work row by row until you get the length you want. Then I pause the video and start attaching how I show how to attach. When you end a row you bind off and turn the work to cast on again and start a new length to connect. You can see the bind off again at min 2:29.

HELP in the begging she only has one of the finger predone i have all four meaning she has the slipknot and the yarn conninging to the ball thats it i have that but also three other parts where the other fingers go help me please
@71kaye7 жыл бұрын
so, this looks like a Zippy loom knit, but with large wiggly attached pegs instead. At the begging it appears you were just demonstrating a more complicated way of e wrapping your own fingers. Got it. If you loose your tool or are in an airport and tools are confiscated, no problem now. thanks.

It looks like a really cool project but from 9/10 comments, ppl get lost, so do i. Do you have a video that starts at the beginning? I would really appreciate if you don't reply me with your standard answer like all the other comments.

nvm, found a better video :)

Great 👍🏻 Glad you found it. Repeating with the same response works for me sometimes because it’s the same response needed. This video does talk about cast on and that is the point. But it was meant for people who already had a grasp of finger knitting in general. It’s meant for adding on. Lots of people make YT videos and so I’m glad you found help. ☺️
