I have used the Fred Kelly Herco and speed picks for years. I mostly use the speed pick for steel. The blue Herco for guitar. I am fine with Dunlop fingerpicks. I was gifted the silver Ron Lanois handmade finger picks and they are ok but $100. for a pair. I need to try those Diamond picks you have. Looks like the old JF picks from Newman. Never had a pair to try. Keep up the good work.

I have two Dunlop thumbpicks: a medium and heavy, and I also have 3 Dunlop fingerpicks, which are only .020

This is good information. I think that one reason you get that true Byrds sound is because of the way you use the finger picks. It's just not the same with a single flat pick (I know - I've tried).

Jim, Roger uses both. He has finger picks on his middle and ring fingers, and a flat pick used normally. This allows him to play a string up or down (think Eight Miles High). I find it much easier than a thumb pick.
