Bought it, downloaded, installed with ease and I am amazed with Fingerpick. It sounds like a real guitar and has so many cheats to help a keyboardist composer create believable music. Thanks soooo much. This is HIGH QUALITY and the price was very reasonable too.

As a finger-picking guitarist, I'm seriously impressed. You really do seem to have thought of everything, Mike. Would have been nice to see more of the humanizing functions, but it's also an excellent video, covering everything the lazy guitarist needs. :-)

for humanizing - record the midi picking notes into your DAW midi track - then use the features within the DAW( Cubase, Logica etc) to select the humanize functions on the midi notes, or edit a few notes here and there freely.

Very nicely done! I have a question about the chords/ chord progression. Is it possible to have chords with an alternate bass?. i.e.: I want to play a G major chord progressing into a G major with the bass going down to F#. Would this actually become a Gmaj7 with F# in the bass or would this automatically be interpreted as a B minor chord? Thanks in advance & keep up the good work!

Nice little widget if don't mind being limited to one key C and limited to only (14) chords within the key. On my midi controller M-Audio Keystation 49 it will not trigger the entire patterns on the keyboard, which means you need to play your own pattern or notes when needed by hand. Need to play with it so the picking isn't so mechanically perfect. But you get what you pay for and can come in handy. If you want the bad ass of Picked Acoustic Guitar player libraries and got the $99 and the latest version of Kontakt I would try Session Guitar - Picked Acoustic. It is the best sounding and most versatile of its kind on the market.

A lot of customers use small keyboards, so we made it possible to move the ranges to fit your keyboard. Go to the settings page, then select "Keyboard Layout." It's pretty handy. ;-) Also, note that we have humanize sliders (one for timing, one for dynamics) that will make the patterns less perfect.

I understand that there are many plugins for both flavors already, but this plugin seems simple enough to use even for someone like me and I am not exactly a musician, so I would like something really that simple and straightforward like this one just for electric guitar. Is there something like that? Thanks!

Am I right in thinking that this Kontakt Player Instrument prog can be used in conjunction with a D.A.W. e.g. Cubase, by actually recording a song in Kontakt, then transferring the audio file to your D.A.W. ???
@Realitone8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you generally would use this as a track on your sequencer (Cubase, etc) then record MIDI that way. If you want to bounce an audio file, you could do that, although it's probably more common to leave everything as MIDI and only make an audio bounce for the full mix.

You're not alone! ;-) We do have a latch mode planned. Currently you need to play the chord within the preceding beat. Here's a video which explains the process in RealiBanjo, which is the same as Fingerpick: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5PSkqiEftGBe7M

I am wondering how this works with a sequencer if using in a song, in particular with respect to the pattern player playback. Do you have to record whole song in one take, or can you record different sections which have different playing styles/patterns, building the song, and they are recognised correctly when you play them back? Maybe the midi drag and drop is used for this, but it is not clear how that would work.
@Realitone7 жыл бұрын
Ha! I just saw this on Sample Library Review and answered there. I should have checked here first. ;-) Anyway, here's what I wrote there: Hi Dave. You definitely don't have to do the whole song in one take. (I always work in pieces on my songs, so I would hate having to do it all in one pass.) Just put new chords wherever you need them on your track, and if you also want to change pattern styles, we have keyswitches for those as well. Or as you suggested, you also have the option of using the MIDI Drag&Drop to create your song. I've used both methods here and don't really have a preference.
@daveparker72717 жыл бұрын
HI, thanks for your reply. It is good that you can record songs in separate parts-do you have to specify the patterns for the parts when recording, or can you change them when it is playing back?

I own many guitar libraries costing a lot more with a much higher sample count, but this one puts many of them to shame in overall musicality and FUNctionality .. You definitely know what you're doing :) Here are few things that could make the instrument even more fun to play, maybe to be implemented in a future upgrade? 1. A LATCH SWITCH_ to keep the sequence running would be nice to free the right hand to do more important things such as changing the pattern or playing solos. The sequence stops almost immediately upon release to then trigger the end pattern. How about if the end pattern was assigned to another unused controller in this instance, the sustain pedal for example ? Or alternatively assign the latch switch to the sustain pedal and trigger the end pattern upon releasing the pedal or assign one keyswitch for the end trigger? 2. FLIP LEFT & RIGHT SECTIONS _ I wish that the playable Solo range was on the right side of the keyboard and the Sequence Trigger/Pattern Select octaves on the left. My left hand is good but I prefer to play my solos with my right hand :) 3. ONE OCTAVE FOR SEQUENCE TRIGGERING_ having 2 octaves for triggering chords that don't do inversions or follow changes in FRET(CAPO) positions is a waste of valuable keyboard space. The keyswitches ranges need to get closer to a more reachable range. I'm using an 88 master keyboard and still find myself having to use the up/down transpose button more often than not to access the full functionalities of that beautiful design. Finally: I noticed that assigning keyswitches to FRET (CAPO) not only changes the fret position but also causes the chords to tonally follow the switching keys and that shouldn't be the case. To correct that I have to release and play it again and only then it plays the correct chord in the new fret position. Not a biggie if I'm working offline or only using the MDI Drag&Drop function, but I believe this a tempting instrument to play and record live or even sing along with it live, and that bug is a party pooper :) I would love to be able to change chord inversions on the fly rather than having to stop playing and touch the interface with a mouse. I'm very happy with Fingerpick, it's both serious to produce with and fun to play as well and that's something I could say about your concept of design generally. I know I'll keep coming back to it and putting it to much use, it's a winner! Thank you Mike.
@Realitone7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your suggestions, Hisham. We have an update (hopefully within a week) which addresses most of these. (I think it hots all three of your 3 three points.) I need to look into the Fret/Capo thing, though. I've never tried changing inversions the way you described. It's a good idea, I just never did it. Your way makes sense, so hopefully that's a change that can be made.

So are the patterns for the parts of songs recorded into sequencer along with the midi, and set at that point, or can you change what pattern/style you want it to play when playing back from sequencer after it has been recorded?
@Realitone7 жыл бұрын
It's an either/or situation, depending on which way you'd prefer to work. Your MIDI track will be either: 1. The chords you played on your keyboard. The patterns will always continue to be whatever style is selected on the interface. If you like, you can also add a keyswitch note to change the pattern style. You can do that anytime, including after you recorded the MIDI track. This would do waht you're asking. 2. The other option is that you can drag&drop the MIDI data for the patterns onto your MIDI track. In this case, your MIDI track will be the actually notes of the pattern, as opposed to block chords like in Option 1. For this option, you could change notes, but changing an entire pattern style would mean changing all the individual notes, which would be a lot of work. Better to just drag&drop your newly selected pattern from the GUI.

I cannot seem to export the midi file patterns to my DAW timeline in Presonus Studio One 3, is there a tutorial or work around on this?... Just purchased it for doing some edited midi mixes and it's not dropping the midi pattern on the timeline at all in Presonus.

I have the same issue with Fl Studio... Did you find a solution yet? It's copying only the time signature and thats all...
@adammusic11246 жыл бұрын
@@capraise I got in touch with Mike who sells these products and he was very helpful and prompt to deal with. You need to make sure that the "Chord =" at the top has a chord selected (i.e. you must play a chord on your midi controller, then the "Chord will = X" where "X" is the chord)... Then that should drag and drop onto your timeline... In PreSonus Studio 3 or 4 it still didn't drag across, so I just dragged the midi to my desktop, and into another midi editor and re-saved it and then imported it into PreSonus and it worked (a bit of a work around, but that's how I got it working)... Hope this helps.

You're made my day! I found out that it works with Digital Performer, which doesn't help me much at the moment. But i didn't know that you could just drag and drop it to the desktop. It's a step more, but at least it works. Thanks a lot! @@adammusic1124

I use a 61 note keyboard here. I only get one octave of the green keys that way, but I'm a keyboard player, so playing inversions is easy for me. You can also use the Octave keys on your keyboard to shift up an octave so you can get the full green keys range, although of course you'll have less range to manually play the guitar then.

I hadn't even thought of jazz! I love the idea, although I'm unsure what a jazz pattern (as opposed to chord progression) might be. In other words, most jazz fingerpicking I've heard is very dependent on the melody and progression, so repetitive patterns that hold on one chord wouldn't work very well. If you can show me examples, though, I'm definitely open to the idea.
