Great job!! I've been waiting for this final episode. I have a R1 from 2005 and bought new fairings almost one year ago, and they've been laying in my garage ever since. You have truly inspired me to take the step and start to work on my bike. I was afraid to mess it up, but thanks to you and your videos my bike is now all done. I just wish I had found your channel earlier, then I've ordered my fairings from Auctmarts instead. Not so pleased with the final fit, but still ok. Greetings from Sweden!

I literally picked up a 2004 Yamaha R1 Friday night. The fairings are shot, missing half of their hardware. Im tinkering to repair the front cowl, but have intentions of buying a new set in the long run. Definitely got a subscribe from me, looking at repairing what I can rather than replacing. Saw your method on the clutch case and intend to do the same for mine as it has some wounds. Fantastic video

nice job! There are a few little things that can catch you out easily on this era of R1. Firstly when you put the coil packs wiring harness back in, its very important the loom sits behind the coils not infront. or over time the fans will chew on the wires. the next issue is the damn coolant pipe that returns to the top of the rad. its the plastic one on the right hand side, the seams split(even on 1 year old pipe). you only notice a white stain on the pipe as when the fairing is on you dont witness it leaking. this is an engine killer as this bike wont show HOT warning until the coolant is nearly empty. by then the pistons have swollen and are ruined. You didnt show yourself fighting with the clutch cover putting it back on!! haha, its a pest to align everything!! Glad you saved this bike. I really like the 5VY
@RKMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Jimmy! I know the fans like to chew up the wires on these bikes, but I didn't know about that coolant pipe issue. And yes for the sake of keeping the video short I didn't show myself fumbling with the clutch cover 😂 no matter how many times I do it, it's always a pain....

hello young man, I follow you France I love your work and watch you make these repairs (it gives me tracks to renovate at the moment a Kawasaki of 1995). I have already reviewed several of your videos (unfortunately I have to put subtitles in French but I can follow you) and it was just to tell you good continuation

It was a bike after a crush so you should drain and change oil before any starts attempts, you can check if there are any metal shaving etc, also you can check cylinder walls with endoscopic camera. And next time maby you can clean the bolt for the rear part you changed in previous video from rust with little bit of sandpaper. Other than that I love every part of your videos, good job !

happy how it turned out for you. Personally i never try to match shades of the same colour. I just pick completely different colours that match. I might have considered a yellow set of fairings with the blue tank with some designs to compliment the blue?? Anyhow. Look forward to the next build.

You should build a powder coating over (really just an old electric stove). It would add another aspect to your repairs.

Hey there. Love your videos and I have a question. In your proffesional opinion is there a way to replenish my 2015 yamaha mt07's tail fairings. They are pretty faded and look ugly. Thank you in advance. NOTE: There is an economic crisis in where i live and the fairings are extremely expensive. Thats why im looking for a DIY solution.

pitty you didn't do a step by step video on fairing install there's a lot of tricky panels and clips that need to be done in a special order and soon as it went in fast forward of the important bits i new i was watching the wrong video heading. back to the jigsaw puzzle or another video dam it, i didn't remove them the previous owner did. thanks anyway got a couple of clues from it.
