Instead of silicone on the trunk panel, maybe you can put on some weather-stripping (with 3m tape) on the car if it ends up leaking more than you'd like.

if they're hard to get to you can also jack up your wheels to replace ride height, it sort of pre-loads the bushings and makes them last and squeak less

Your weird driving is most likely because of your rear alignment. You said you pushed the toe in to get it drivable but with a welded diff you have to have them as square as you can. If they're toe-in at all then they'll forever be fighting each other which will cause your erratic rear driving. I welded my rear diff and kept it about 50 miles before i parked it and bought a new one because i couldn't stand the hopping and chatter at slow speeds.

They should. E36 and E46 use a common trailing arm bushing. Source: I'm the guy that first did the Camry RTAB and wrote it up.
