The bike no one bought here in the states but still brings smiles when ridden today. I love mine.

It’s not that no one bought them, you couldn’t get them. I was the sales manager of the 4th largest Suzuki dealership in the U.S. at the time, and I just could not get any. There was no allocation, even for a dealership like mine that sold over 700 new Suzukis a year.

Super job my man, I have one of these in white with red accents and gold wheels. Will be sure to reference your videos if I have any issues with it -- knock on wood!

A great job, there! I did the same with an '83 GSX550ES last winter, although the bike started out complete and running, it just had many issues so I tore it apart. I faced similar problems to yours, doing a few things in the wrong order, buying mis-matched parts and finding various horrors lurking where previous owners had bodged up repairs. Worth it in the end, these are very good bikes and much simpler than a modern one to work on.

Glad you liked it. Getting that swing arm out and back in was the worst. My cousin is enjoying riding it now amongst his multiple bikes. His first Suzuki.

Also bought a delkevic exhaust for my motorcycle. mine is a 1982 GSX 750e. it was the generation before your bike. In my opinion my generation is the better looking bike. I have however added some exhaust wool on the baffle to make it a bit more quieter so the neighbours won't complain 🙂.

Yep. I did the same. The Delkevic’s are quite loud. 👍🏼

Thanks. I just cut a strip of fibreglass matting twice the width, folded it over, then wrapped around twice then wrapped it tightly with wire. Sounds good now. Cheers.

Thanks. I’ve enjoyed it. No bike projects at the moment. Got some building to do on my property so that will keep me busy for a while. Cheers.

Brilliant exhaust pipe solution. I was thinking how to get that in a lathe?

Thanks. Thought about doing it by hand at first but this worked out well. Just had to do the last little bit by hand as I couldn’t get a full 360 rotation. Cheers.
