Good guide mate. I have this to do on mine soon. Winter is coming to the UK

Followed your guide and fitted Daytona with integrated switch, very neat. Thank you.

Thanks for posting this I just bought the same heated grips to put on my gsxs 1000. I ordered the connector you mentioned plus I ordered the updated throttle tube to get everything done at the same time.

I managed to shove heated grips and a wireless charger into the same sumitomo connector. This vid was a lifeline because I forgot where all the screws went 😅 It's the only vid too.

Glad it helped. I’m planning on installing a CarPlay unit above the main screen so I’ll be doubling up the grip connector as well. Cheers.

So I looked up the price from Suzuki, and said "no". I ended up getting a pair of heated grip wraps off of Amazon for $30 US last November, that plug into the bike's USB port, took them off for the Summer, and are putting them back on next month when it starts to get cold here in Colorado.
@plaxsax9 ай бұрын
Yep, the price of the Suzuki ones is outrageous.

Great job you did there👍 Lot of work, but you made it 😊 l’m glad l got the original grips mounted by the garage to be sure😅

Thanks for watching Johnny. It certainly was a bigger job than I expected. Happy with the results though. Cheers.

Your the man! Did you use the service manual or the owners manual as a guide?
@plaxsax4 ай бұрын
Probably a bit of both. The user manual describes how to get the fairings off (done that a few times now) and the service manual to check the wiring. Cheers.

Nice job, chap - those Whites have a much neater appearance than the Oxfords with the pesky controller. Reckon I've got about 6mths before I'll need em in pomland!
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
Apparently there is a new version of the Oxfords with the same style of control built into the left grip. Thanks for watching!

@@plaxsaxapols with late come-back. Indeed just spotted the Hotgrips Pro but also the Daytona V2 which are a chunk cheaper. Need to research, this end! 👍🏻

Great video! Thank you! What is the length of the Apollo grips should I choose - 130 mm? GSX-S forum says 120 mm is the preferrable for GT... I messed
@plaxsax3 ай бұрын
Yep 120mm. On an older bike you could slide the switch blocks in a bit if you have the 130mm ones but modern bikes have a pin that locks the switch blocks in place on the bar.

wow that's a tonne of work, I never dreamed you would need to smooth off the accelerator with a dremel. I may just buy some heated gloves :)
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
Yeh. Even the factory ones as well I think.

Thanks for the video, I plan to do this job this spring so this was very helpful. What do you think about running a wire from the connector to under the seat, so that if I want to attach additional accessories in the future (camera maybe) I can do so without having to lift the tank again?
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
So the S1000 has an option Port under the seat but the GT doesn’t. I presume that’s because it has the USB port on the dash. I ran an extra port under the seat from the option circuit. I have a USB port in my tail bag that I run off that mainly to power my phone while running MySpin which needs your phone to be unlocked to work. BTW there is a port under the seat that looks like an option port but it’s not. Thanks for watching 😁👍🏼

Were you happy with where the on/off switch ended up on the left side handlebar or would you have moved it up or down a bit after riding with it?
@plaxsax3 ай бұрын
Pretty happy with where it is. I have accidentally switched them on a couple of times but not recently. Pointing further up would get it out of the way but you’d have to move your hand to reach the switch but I have to do that for my old Oxfords on my Katana. Even though it is tight it can still be twisted so it can be adjusted after.

What after market seat is that? Just bought the Suzuki here in the US. Idaho and that damn seat is uncomfortable.Thanks

Standard seat but reshaped. Have a look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH6wZaWrq7yZY8ksi=i2ITmeTp4j_evnD-

Wow that’s a bit of work, well done. If you’re connecting direct to battery can you route the wires without lifting the tank and maybe not remove the key shroud?
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
You could wire direct to the battery but you could easily switch them on while moving the bike etc even though they will turn off automatically if the battery level gets a bit low. I preferred to use the factory supplied connection. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Thank you for the video. I recently purchased a GSX S1000GT+ and have a set of Suzuki heated grips to install. Your step by step instructions are very helpful on stripping the bike down. Is this the only auxiliary power source (key on)? And in your opinion, would that plug handle the heated grips and a set of LED running lights
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and yes the "Option" connector only has power when the key is on. Also the option circuit is 10A. I know my aftermarket grips draw a maximum of around 4A when on full heat and LEDs should draw very little so the circuit should cope fine. Good luck.

Great video, installing these in the spring. Question, I notice you have an Airflow seat cover, can I ask where you got it? The airflow site doesn’t show our bike as an option? Love these seat covers.
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. That’s just the standard seat with a sheepskin over it then a cheap cover from eBay. It helps although I haven’t been on a huge ride on it yet.

Thank you very much for the detailed video! Does anyone know if the Sumitumo connector on the GSX-S 1000 is the same and is in the same place?
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
Yeh the connector is the same and the S1000 has one under the seat as well as under the tank. The GT only has the one under the tank.
@Ferry_GSX Жыл бұрын
@@plaxsax Thanks for the quick reply :-) Is the connector under the seat not a diagnostic connector?
@plaxsax Жыл бұрын
@@Ferry_GSX The S1000 has two “option” ports. Both 2 pin Sumitomo. One under the tank and one under the seat. The GT has one “option” port under the tank and the USB port on the dash. The GT does have a two pin Sumitomo connector under the seat but it is a diagnostic connector.

Why didnt you take the throttle grip side off to do the Dremel work? Two screws. Also, I wouldnt want a kit that required that type of surgery to make it fit. I respect you for doing this DIY but I dont think your judgement can be trusted at this point for futher DIY's. The OEM kit fits much better and replaces the throttle side grip housing.
