Love watching your videos. We started our build around the same time, same van, same size and similar layout. I wish I had known about those tiles earlier. We have been living and traveling all over Canada, USA and Mexico in our van for over a year now. I think you may be underestimating how often you will be using your toilet. And you probably won't move your toilet for a shower after a few weeks. Keep up the great work and who knows, we may meet on the road!

I think, at this point, you are much farther than we are. Best of luck out there :)

Thank you, yes we had to hurry because we sold our house before we started and we didn't have the problem of an HOA. Can't wait to see your finished van.

Thanks Marc and Tania for sharing your build process. We are neighbors, I live in Lawrenceville GA. I’m in the process of doing my research to doing a Promaster Van conversion and I’m currently looking for a Promaster 2500 high roof 159 van. I’am currently watching all of your videos and looking forward to future videos. Thks, Burton

Man you recover quite well from your 'boo boos' Marc! The finished product is looking great. Thanks much for the honesty. To me, that is as encouraging as straight on successful projects because it is reality and as they say, "stuff" happens! And it will, for certain. Been waiting for the shower completion phases and it's getting close!. Great vid.

@@marctania2349 Really missing your vids guys. The wife and I are itching to get at ours but are held up with winter here in Michigan as we have nowhere to park indoors. Doing more research on certain aspects and planning and some parts are being ordered and coming in but no actual work yet. Hope to see some content on your build soon. We hope all is well

Hi guys! how's it going? Enjoying the van?
@marctania23494 ай бұрын
We just about have it finished. Due to some family and health issues, we had to stop working on it for almost a year....but its pretty much done at this point aside from cutting the mattress and covering the pieces. We expect to be taking it out in the next few weeks for a maiden voyage.

Hey nice job! In the middle of this job now…. I’m putting the smaller sized Palisades tile up… the bottom rows of tile that I applied to one wall yesterday have come loose - I suspect it’s the weight of the tile above causing them to flare out under pressure as the adhesive was curing. Do you see anything similar?
@marctania2349 Жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issue like that. Once I get the tiles on, they dont move at all. What kind of adhesive did you use. I highly recommend Loctite Fast Grab Ultimate (White). It worked great.....
@dcrguitars5494 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Marc! I used Loctite PowerGrab Regular on the first and second wall then switched to Ultimate for the final wall because it was a colder day (mid 40s) and the Ultimate is rated to 40 whereas the regular is only rated to 50. With the last wall I also only tiled half the wall and braced the bottom tiles while the glue set up overnight. So far so good with that - I'll finish up that wall today. I went back and used Loctite Marine Sealant (my go-to heavy duty glue) to re-glue the loose tiles on the first wall (I was able to carefully pull the panel away from the wall and get the glue in there). So far so good - all seems solid this am (despite temps in the low 20's!) PS - just curious - why didn't you tile the ceiling?@@marctania2349

I didn’t see your info on your shower pan. We are undecided on making our own or going with a premade. Just haven’t found the right one. What size & brand is the one you two used?
@marctania23499 ай бұрын
We tracked it down form a page called Sunny and Luna living. they use it in their van...and it seems to it really well
@coco90045 ай бұрын
Is it real tiles for the shower in ceramic or what? because if it is real ceramic tile, you cannot just put some ciment like that. the whole wall must be covered of cement and then you apply the tiles on it.
@marctania23494 ай бұрын
Palisade tile is vinyl. The kitchen wall is ceramic....and, yes, it was done as you suggest.

Hugely surprised there was such a failure of planning to have not thought through where the lavatory was going whilst the shower was in use. Especially having built out the shower frame.... It isn't like there aren't a plethora of YT videos covering this issue nor, it being a blatantly obvious issue. Perhaps covered elsewhere on why this was such an error.... But meanwhile, a good example of how NOT to build a van.
@marctania23494 ай бұрын
Not sure I get your message. We built the shower and left room in the studs to run a vent and electrical later........works pretty well for us.
