So glad I stumbled across your guys video. Currently in the middle of a whole home remodel and tore down the drop ceiling in our basement to raise it up. Your guys idea is exactly what I had in mind. I will be doing very similar what you guys did. Thanks for the awesome video 🙌

Absolutely genius! This is something we could tackle ourselves. I know you said in your other video $100, it might be a bit more for us in Canada, but overall cheaper than hiring someone to do a suspended ceiling, in my opinion. Hopefully as we are finishing our basement, there will be enough drywall leftover 😁

+@heidim8361 Thanks! And yes. We live in Kentucky and supplies here are cheap. Other areas may cost more but would still be affordable for most people:)

I had considered the drywall between the TJIs when I finished my basement but I was worried that they would begin to sag over time. Access to a basement ceiling is priceless.

This is perfect. We have a low ceiling in our business. A drop ceiling is out of the question. We looked at tracks that you install, but it would have been thousands of dollars!

I keep going back to your videos for inspiration! Thanks again. I have one question from this video: how are the atmos speakers holding up on drywall pieces that arent secured to the joists? any rattling or shifting from the speaker noise?

Love the ceiling idea! How is the noise from upstairs and vice versa? Also, do you have a link for the lights? Thanks, and great work!!
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! It took us a while to come up with this ceiling idea. The noise is not too bad. The subwoofer is the hardest to contain. There are better insulations you can use for sound absorption than what we used. When watching the movie we hear no noise upstairs except for when the shower is running I hear the water in the drain pipe. I will be covering that in insulation as well. I will find the link for the lights and post it in this reply. amzn.to/3S2yj8j amzn.to/3BEsKrj

The ceiling is such an awesome idea. Did you take each section of drywall back down to paint them after cutting them and putting them up there or did you just spray paint everything while they loosely sat on top of the joists?

One more question, the drywall boards are just loose up there right? So would you ever be worried about a little sliver on the edge showing an unpainted area if they shift around? Like an area that was covered up by the 1x3s that are holding them up?
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry Жыл бұрын
@@PeteWeathersMusic we bought a can of flat black spray paint incase that would be an issue. But surprisingly it’s not a problem. If I had it to do over again, I would still paint the drywall like we did with it up on the ceiling.

Do you ever get dust/insulation fibers falling when people walk upstairs? I really want to seal in all that insulation fiber. Or just when you have to physically move a panel? Also I’m about to do this on 1100 SF of basement so it will be a lot of cutting drywall into 15.5” panels to fit between the joists.
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry Жыл бұрын
Nice!! Good luck to ya! And to answer your question I have never had issues with the insulation dust/fibers coming out even when I move panels.

Are the ceiling sections still removal since all the final trim has been installed?
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry 2 жыл бұрын
+Austin Hunter 100% yes! The trim doesn’t touch the ceiling pieces (dry wall) that is above it. Everything can easily be removed. We have already removed a few pieces multiple times. Easy to remove and put back 👌

Where did you get the entertainment center
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! My husband built the entertainment center. It cost $0 to build because it's made of old barn siding from when we rebuilt our barn and then the top is made of white oak that we cut down on our property with our sawmill. Here is the video of us making the entertainment center/built ins: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGmcipKLfbx7nsk

How bad does the drywall rattle while watching a movie?
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry Жыл бұрын
+Nathan Clifton Hey! It does rattle slightly when the bass is high, but it’s not noticeable. To fix it you can add more insulation above the panel to put more pressure down on the panels. It’s weird though, because only certain frequencies do that… We have never had anyone tell us that they notice it, we only notice it because we are self critical ha
