So lovely to see a wonderful group of friends supporting and encouraging each other! I often envision going on a solitary writing retreat somewhere and that still sounds lovely but this sounds incredible!

Gril. I forgot your room had a fireplace in it! I does look like a mouth hahahaha The stupidly high mirror? WHO IS IT FOR?!?! I in fact did not drop any more pickles on my feet so... goal was achieved. I love getting to watch these and seeing all the fun things we did together and also realizing that I missed a lot during my naps haha. Also, why is 90% of my contribution to all conversations just quippy one liners and "REBEKAAAAA!" I think I may have a problem. It was great having everyone in my home town again, I love having you all but I'm excited for the next adventure! Miss your faces already!!!!

Sitting at my desk with an open scrivener doc and getting lost while watching your vlog - and I‘m absolutely here for the long ones 🙈 but it kind of motivates me at the same time to get some words in
@bookishsyd6077Күн бұрын
I love the shot of the magnifying glass and the computer screen through it! And you missing the giant lights in the trees was so relatable, lol. I swear, the bigger something is, the LESS likely I am to notice it. This video came at the perfect time because I have been hardcore putting off a re-read. I still have a lot of scenes to write, but I don't remember exactly what immediately precede and follow them besides like, a half-sentence description, so I have to take better notes. I’m avoiding it (even though it’s super necessary) because it’s just a lot of reading- 42 chapters and 64k, which according to Scrivener is about 4 hours. Not bad, considering, but still a lot of time to put aside when I have a new shiny project idea. It’s also hilarious you played DnD. I played a singular time but spent some time yesterday filling out some information and helpful tips like spells and what they do in my character notebook in preparation for when I get a solid group together. The shark drink was also amazing. Thanks for the video! I will now get off YT and do a re-read.
@KateCavanaughКүн бұрын
THANK YOU! I saw that and was instantly like "I HAVE to use this" bahaha. 🔍 Re-reads are so tough from the standpoint of it FEELS like so much work that getting started is hard. But then once you're in it, you remember all the things you love about your story, and so it can feel like the time is nothing. (This is as much a pep talk for me bahaha.) I hope you get a great group for DnD soon, and good luck on your re-reads!!

I am trying to remember - is this near Chillicothe? I am about 1.5 hours from there but keep thinking "that's a cute town, wonder where it is?" Ha, ha! I was just telling my daughter about your writing retreats here - she wants to do one but we are the only people we know who write! (Maybe after grad school is done I can take her away and go writing somewhere.)
@KateCavanaughКүн бұрын
Yes, in Chillicothe!! In the cute little downtown area. :) Aww absolutely, I think that would be a blast! I'm always here for mother/daughter trips. :) Plus maybe y'all will be able to hunker down and get some extra writing in vs. the occasional distractions of bigger groups.

I wonder if you are going to do at the end of the month writing vlogs, given your health situation? I don’t mean to assume, just curious. I honestly do not mind that, I find this best because vlogs are longer. Glad to see you are enjoying yourself Kate! 😊
@KateCavanaughКүн бұрын
I have a list of backlogged videos I still need to edit, because yes, you're totally right! Health and writing have been coming first. I'm hoping to get them all out and/or try doing weekly vlogs in January, but it's nice to know that if I have to combine it all into one mega vlog, people would still be interested! :)

Kate, how did you cultivate your writing community? My new year goal is to find fellow writers and build each other up
@KateCavanaugh29 минут бұрын
That's such a great question!! All of these incredible friends I met here, on KZbin! Either from first watching each other's videos and commenting or through livestream events or even just in other people's comments and chatting back and forth. Becca and Jess I met back in our first year of making videos, so it's been a really long time with them! I'd definitely recommend seeing if your local area has a writer's group (maybe check out your library!) but otherwise I can't speak highly enough to the friends here on KZbin! The Twitch community has also been really awesome, especially because you see the same people every other day.

Kate, this is a great video! I think you did an amazing job at the retreat. I have to ask, though: did you block a lot of people on IG, and just stop posting anything? It’s been two years since you posted anything.
@KateCavanaughКүн бұрын
Noooo, I just stopped posting! I'll rarely (like....four times a year) post to my IG stories. I do want to get back into it, but for a while there it had started to feel like a "chore" and hard to distinguish between what social media was fun for my job vs. what felt like unnecessary work. I still use IG to follow people though!
