I’m not quite an author yet, but you inspired me to make content as an aspiring author ✍️.. I won NaNoWriMo 2024 already wrote my book in 12 days and now I’m curious to see if I can write a full book in 4 days.. 50k being the goal word count. Wish me luck yall!

You're very lucky that your able to be more concise! I physically cannot keep things in line. I have three finished (zero draft) novels, and all of them are at least 120K. I tried to write a short, simple story, and it turned into a 40K word novella. I really need to learn how to reign it in, but I'm in my late 30s now, so I'm not sure if my brain is elastic enough for that, haha.

The whole NaNo thing is so difficult. I use Google Spreadsheets for almost everything, but I can't seem to keep track of my words efficiently without the NaNo website. I guess I just like the interactivity of the site. I've never donated nor bought a shirt, so I can justify using the sight to continue tracking my progress at least now. I don't know if that's still wrong, though. I'm trying to find another way to track everything, but I can't really find any alternatives I like. I still plan on doing the whole NaNo 50k words goal every year even if I stop participating in NaNao specifically.

I am a panther and working on my second WIP. I did some outlining before diving into it, including the arc of the book by chapter. But I let my characters and story still take some line of its own. I have a notebook where I jot down changes that have happened.

Thor is so precious! Are you going to keep him? I’m glad he’s getting along with Buffy, Zelda, and Vin now. I have two dogs, Bailey and Lizzy. Bailey is a pomsky and Lizzy is a small black Shepherd mix mix mix. Love how much we love our doggos. 🥹🥹 You got some good books, too! And you did incredible with your writing progress in October. I’m really impressed. I haven’t written anything since August and I started querying my PhD dissertation novel on July 1st, so I’ve been doing that, submitting short stories, applying to TV writing fellowships, teaching, and trying to catch up on reading. I hope now that it’s November I can write some this month and next month as I would love to finish the first draft of my YA horror novel by January. 🤞 Your writing vlogs are so motivating! I would love a little cabin in the mountains with views of a lake that I can write by the water or in a comfy chair looking out at the mountains!

I´ve been so annoyed at the NaNo Drama and really down but you actually motivated me to write again. I´m still plotting my novel because I want to try and have the whole book playing in my mind before writing the first draft. So maybe I´ll start a similar challenge in December or January. Thanks for your writing vlogs, they make me calm down and relax.

I think I’m accidentally doing this challenge on top of my usual word goal haha I usually do 500 words MTWTh and 1000 words FriSatSun but I’m doubling that up in November, so I should hopefully hit 100k too! Didn’t even think about it until this video but that’ll be a nice milestone

So far I have 36,000 words just with my Beat Sheet😭

I love these videos so much! I'm doing a challenge I'm calling "Terry-Vember" where I try to write 400 words a day in November after Terry Pratchett's (GNU) daily habit of 400 words a day. I never managed nano anyway so I think this is a far more achievable goal, and oriented around someone I actually respect.

I'm not doing this challenge this year, but I did just start working on a new story and this video comes at the perfect time as a companion to some of my worldbuilding endeavours

As a fellow Texan, I feel ya on a screened in porch would be perfect. I also skip over the scene and leave a note that says kiss scene here, or they move from apartment to the beach. And then fill in the details later.

I am currently catching up with your writing streams on twitch because I’ve just been working nonstop but thankfully I have a few days off this week. I’m trying to figure out how to write an audio drama at the moment, reading up on tips and tricks and stuff. I know the only way to learn is just to do it, but it’s so different than my usual writing that I’m just having so much trouble with it! Hopefully as I continue to make my way through your backlog, I’ll move from my brain drain document to my plot rambling document lol.

OMG it's November already! I barely got any words in in October due to personal problems but am hoping to catch up this month. I am loving that the length of this challenge allows for unexpected bumps in the road.

I'm loving the 100KQ4 challenge. I'm already planning to aim for 100K each quarter of the year because roughly 1.5K a day (because I don't write weekends) is totally doable in a couple hours for me. Sometimes less than an hour. And I think that would be awesome.

Still missing Nanowrimo but my "Novel November" goal is trying for a 50k with the support of friends instead of the bigger community. I think we will all make progress regardless of our goals :D

Grazie mille for this wonderfully long video, Kate, you have such a lovely charisma! ✨ It's quite chilly at night here in Switzerland, so I just put on a second pair of socks. 😁 When I was a kid I used to draw a lot and I loved it. I started drawing again about a year ago. It's just that I realised that I was often using drawing as an excuse not to write. I'm still not sure what the root of my perfectionism is. It's not fear of criticism; I think it's the stupid belief that I should be able to write better... so I don't start at all. You know, I gave up my wish to write a book, I just want to enjoy writing again, no matter how bad it is.

just wanted to send you a heart to say kudos for starting therapy ❤ and I wanted to affirm that those first appointments can be anxiety inducing. I have been told "white coat syndrome" where I get really nervous around medical professionals and unforch that has progressed into justified panic from real life bad medical experiences, and that was a big hurdle for me when working on my mental health. but I've really valued my time in therapy since then. sending good vibes

I basically created my own Nano but it's more realistic for me. I lowered the word count and gave myself some leeway. November is still the best month for me to write, but I also added a second month to work on current works. So November is for new stuff and April (or May depending on scheduling) will be for my current works. With any luck, I'll constantly have a draft in progress and in the editing/finishing stages. I'm really excited for this story as a whole because my MCs are gods so it opens up to a whole new way of approaching things that I haven't done before. I feel like I'm gonna enjoy figuring out how to balance the story. I am the same way with writing. I will sit there for such a long time with a few words and then suddenly all the words just spill out. I like to believe that subconsciously my brain is working out the scene and then just dumps it all into the conscious part of my brain all at once.
