One of the great problems with the Detroit Diesels in trucks and buses is all of the rubber hoses that are run willy nilly all over the place making the installations look absolutely horrendous. Adrian is doing a great job of keeping everything run neatly and cleanly. HATS OFF to Adrian -excellent work mate!

Stu: I have watched your channel from the days of fixing a submerged 2-stroke outboard and the Green Machine. This series with Adrian, and the Detroit getting put right, have been the most informative and entertaining - and that is saying something, because the rest have been great too. You have an engine now that might outlive you. I really look forward to the sea trials with a bigger prop.

I wish I had a tenth of the knowledge and skill that Adrian does. Having a friend like that is awesome. He seems like a really good down to earth person. It's crazy how some of the smallest touches really make your engine unique and better, for lack of a better word. You'll have one of those engine compartments that makes people go "wow does that look fantastic". Gotta love it.

Is it really two years from that famous video "Is it a bad idea to buy an old steel boat"? I recall seeing it posted.... That video actually convinced me to subscribe & follow your channel - and latter I watched all of your posted videos. What a journey and how much work you invested in the boat - and there are still so many things that could be done on the boat! Incredible. Your work and approach how to deal with issues somehow convinces me that a saying "It's all is about the Journey, Not the Destination" seems correct. ;-) Thank you for all interesting posts and I wish you a happy new year from Slovenia! I hope to see the Renko on the water soon! :-)

A lot of mechanics would be happy to have you out of their shop in a hurry and your money in their pocket. But Adrian is different. What an amazing talent with the torch and what a caring touch he has for these engines. He's like the Mother-Teresa for these Detroit Diesels. He more than takes them in, he thinks about their job and makes them better suited for what they are intended to do. Keep Adrian and Jen very close to you. I'm talking about gifts being sent in the mail on a regular basis, birthday cards with money, etc. These are people that need to be handsomely rewarded for what they represent to the world.

Great to see how it should be done Stu. I been watching with great interest. It should be bulletproof. Also with the Landy if you do one corner at a time you get more “flex” out of the axle. I had a 110 Defender and even putting raised springs in I didn’t need to compress them. Adrian is a top bloke. You’re lucky he doesn’t have a sign up like in one of the smaller engineering shops I used to work at. Labour. $50 per hour. $60 per hour if you watch $85 per hour if you help!

Sweet.....THIS is what I've been waiting for....congratulations. Now is the proper time to start adventuring knowing you got that sweet Detroit Heart-Of-Gold to get you home. Teething problems? Sure....but you'll sort that out in no time. For all you people unfamiliar with the charms of Detroit Diesels, imagine having a motor that will outlive you.....with proper set-up and maintenance they are living works of art that'll get you home every time.......Maybe carry a spare starter motor for "off-shore insurance". The world needs more Adrians, and more Stus. With love from a person who grew-up on the upper Niagara river (watching sunsets over the Falls from ABOVE the Falls, 41 foot steel hull with twin Mercruiser 255's) I say CHEERS!

What's great about the current Detroit Diesels is the computer 3d rendering of how the entire mechanism functions before even a single tool touches any metal...to include in theory a completely 3d printed working prototype of obviously a very much smaller but "to scale" scale model. Need a part straight up re-made and replaced? With that software and the proper printing set up just straight up hit the "enter button" and listen to the sound of pleasant female voice explain in "mechanic time" precisely how out with the old and in with the new. Never as good as OEM of course but of course these are two stroke diesels and not a General Electric GE9X Turbofan to power a Boeing 777x.

Hello from Ontario Canada The Detroit is definitely looking top notch again! You’ll have to give us a rundown of the changes/improvements you’ve made! Looking forward to hearing it running in the boat. Adrian seems like an absolute genius when it comes to those motors for sure!! Cheers Stu!
