You guys! I was the fella that said when you started this project that I couldn't watch if you were going to try to remodel the mobile home. I don't know if you were mess'in with us on that, but it has been a pleasure watching all your vids on this project! I have been building highend homes for almost fifty years, and I can say that, for rookies, you guys have knocked it out of the park! I am so impressed with your thought processes in working through problems, Your creativity, and your wisdom in asking for help with the professionals, ( insulation, drywall, etc.), things that would have bogged you down, and sapped your energy. It's been a joy seeing your family and friends, and little Oliver!, working on the project! Definitely try the AirBnB, VRBO, or rental maybe. Also it might be a wonderful place to host a Meetup with the KZbin buds! Anyways, God Bless, keep up the great work! You Guys Rock!!!

When Radio Shack was expanding at an incredible rate during the seventies, their formula recognized that there were "pioneer" managers and "mainter" managers. Two distinct personality types. The pioneers were installed in brand new Radio Shack stores to get them up and running and the maintainers were then installed to run them. I think there is a possibility that you guys are pioneers and may be running into issues once you hit the maintenance stage. Just a thought :)

The drywall finishers did not finish the mud jobs on the walls.
@Hubris2
@Hubris2 5 күн бұрын
I was trying to decide if that was a design choice because the same patterns were left on parts of some ceilings and many of the walls - it does look like they didn't finish sanding the mud smooth so when it was painted it was visible. Given how perfectionist they are in some areas I can't imagine that it was by accident and they didn't notice - they must have decided they didn't want all the walls to be completely smooth so there was maybe a rustic look?

@14:30 your comment about extra holes in the wall for the ledgers, try putting ledgers just below the nailing rail at the top of the cabinet. You can hang the cabinet from the ledger and leave it in place behind the cabinet. No extra holes to patch.

Or build a ledger that sits on the bottom cabinet.
@guytech7310
@guytech7310 6 күн бұрын
For upper cabinets I use a pair of toe jacks or FastCap Second hand tools. Much easier than using a ledger board since you don't have to hold up the cabinet while adding screws. I did my entire kitchen by myself & no ledger boards either. I also used the RTA cabinets. Only other difference is I did tile & tiled the entire kitchen before installing kitchen cabinets. Much cleaner install. Nailing trim: Use painter's tape before you nail. Then you can patch the hole & paint over just the nail hole, leaving the spray painted trim looking sharp. No brush marks or drip markets. I use two layers of painter's tape: Patch & sand, Remove top layer. paint & then remove the final layer of tape.

tip for recovering location of wires and boxes hidden by the drywall crew -- reflect the ceiling onto the floor, mark location of the ceiling boxes onto the floor using a vertical laser level. Same with the wall boxes ... mark the floor, and also label the floor marking with the actual height of the box(es)

It's coming along nicely. As a trim carpenter, I have a suggestion to avoid holes in the wall from the ledger for the upper cabinets. This method only works if you install the lowers first. I have made a box about 36" long by just under 18" wide by just under 19.5" tall. I set it on the lowers and then set the uppers on it. I then finish raising the upper into place with Viking Arm type tools. Your box dimensions may vary but typically 18" is the space after countertops and 19.5" is the space from bare lower cabinets. I hope this helps for next time.

@@USMC1984 Clever editing. Babies can get tired, hungry, sick, bored or don't get their way, that can make them cranky. Recently, Courtney mentioned that Oliver had a health problem and had to take him in and get treated. They did not show Oliver at all during that time period until after he recovered. Y’all are amazing As an electrician I wouldn’t use push outlets and switch’s, electricity works on surface contact and Pressure. There is minimal contact surface area on those devices. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands warm when working outside especially with water, works great holding your body heat in and tears down the road you won’t have skin issues or arthritis as bad. Speaking from experience living in cold country most of my life

These are not the old stab-in outlets. They look like the newer style that is made by Wago and I've seen them tested, way beyond where the breaker would trip, side by side with both types of the side screw outlets/ switches. They seem to have figured it out and they do fine. The old stab-ins just didn't have enough surface contact, CAU, and they would fail, make hot spots, etc...I've swapped out so many of those old, failed, stab-in outlets/switches over the years. Those truly were junk. This is different.

So fun to see Oliver grow up as a YTK (KZbin Kid) … it won’t be long and he’ll be filming & narrating while y’all do your magic building, engineering and so much more in front of the camera 🎥. 😊 Love love your channel. You thoroughly inspire me!! Bless you!

Hi Riley,that metal that you were fixing is Corten and is a steel / copper alloy and is used a lot in the UK as an unfinished architecture material for cladding. The firm that I worked for one time were the major suppliers of pressed panels for shipping container builders in the UK. If the paint finish got scraped of the self healing property prevented rust developing. In the UK the door trim is called architrave,the floor to wall trim is skirting and the kitchen unit base trim is kick strip. Fantastic job and finish that you have achieved and Courtney could get a job as a consultant to be sure that everything would be finished to perfection. Great team work everyone.

Corten was a huge deal here in USA 40-50 years ago. They figured you could avoid painting things (like bridges). I'm not sure how it really worked out though because I see most bridges being painted. A bridge in Pittsburgh PA collapsed a little over a year ago. It was determined tgat the corten steel failed due to constent exposure to, well, basically things it shouldn't see. Corten lives outdoors great but when it has water & debris running down it from a road surface and other factors it will shed its protective coating and continue to oxidize like any other steel.

Your home turned out so great, congratulations! I love your videos and you two are a model of how to work together and support one another. I hope you find a way to keep that home. You would regret selling it I think after putting so much into it and it being your first build of this type. Good luck!

You guys absolutely crushed it in this video and on this house (re)build. Awesome design, floor plan and material choices. Tear down was the right choice. I would love to have this exact house here in Tennessee. Air B&B is a great idea. But I have to say Oliver stole the show. His sweet expression when you opened the cabinet door and he smiled. was just 🥹gush😍. Beautiful baby boy 🩵

painting a house is a nightmare.... because of all the stuff in the house. Painting in a house with no furniture would actually be really fun. Not having to worry about getting paint on anything. being able to move around no problem. be able to just sand things if need be and not get dust on all your stuff...

While i really missed you and a video from you last week, The amount of content in this one video ,surpasses any of the videos you have posted to date. It almost makes up for not seeing you last week......ALMOST! LOL. Seriously, while you had some help, I do think they were just some muscle and talent, doing what and how you'd have done it yourself. I am completely impressed with this whole build. Tearing down the old mobile home was the right call. Doing all this yourself, in the amount of time it took you is very very impressive!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your journey. In this build and everything else you've accomplished!

So many comments about the skip troweling finish on the drywall 😂. I actually really like the look of it over other drywall textures like orange peel or knockdown. And some texture on drywall is nice to help hide imperfections especially as the home is lived in

You did a LOT of work in this video and it doesn’t do justice to the amount of time it took to make this video, but congratulations on finishing this massive project. All the help you had throughout the build continued the quality of work ethics all around and you both should be so blessed to have family and friends like that.

Huh, I thought you originally had bought the property for Courtneys brother to live there. I assume the texture on the walls and ceilings is by design? I expected it to be smooth, so looks a bit strange. (Where I live we don't really do drywall)

Tip on the flooring - rather than use the HF block to pound the planks together, you can use a few scraps of the flooring and cut pieces that fit better and won't do any damage to the edges.

@@AmbitionStrikes I'm not sure what that is but I am pleased to NOT SEE popcorn texture on the ceilings. Walls I prefer just flat and smooth, no texture added all. Texturing collects and holds dust and makes cleaning walls and ceilings much more difficult in the long term.
