It’s funny cuz I work at Honda. The 4 cylinders are a breeze, remove subframe super fast no problem. Let the mounts hold everything up. But the v6, Honda bolts the mount to the subframe, so you gotta use an engine hanger to hang the engine.

Depending on how a car is driven, a clutch can last hundreds of thousands of miles. It is a wear surface that only gets worn when it is being slipped to take off. My VW TDI had over 500,000 on it with the origional clutch. But it was really only ever driven on the highway, so it didnt change gears often. Meaning the clutch didnt really receive any wear when it say at highway speeds for 8 hours a day.

J37 intake manifold and throttle body might be a nice small upgrade for the j30 with ported runners
@packerman1203
@packerman1203 24 күн бұрын
J37 manifolds are basically the same as the 08-12 accord v6-6. If you want a bit of a bigger manifold then the 13-17 accord v6 ones will do but clearance for the p/s pump is an issue because they all had EPS and there’s no butterfly valve controlling the internal runners. The zdx throttle is always a good upgrade for any drive by wire honda.

I changed the clutch on my 7th gen Accord 6 speed without removing the subframe. You're the only other person I've seen do this. The trick is drop it in from the top and to have a spare alignment tool and cut it down to about 4". It'll fit right in and hold the flywheel in while you do the rest. Oh, when I went to replace the rear main seal I discovered whoever did the clutch the last time just sealed it with RTV......

I also have a 05 V6 6SPD accord coupe! Just about all the same mods (plus some) and so stoked to see these videos! Another thing to help the drivetrain, the OEM Honda CMC have a tendency to fail. Hybrid racing also makes one from the 02-06 RSX, which is the same part number for the 7th gen! Bolts right in no problem and gives a smoother clutch engagement. Good luck at the track brother, excited to see the results

From the comments ive read with a lot of people saying theyre on their stock clutches makes realize that if you see a car for sale and it says “clutch replaced at x mileage” and its doesnt have a lot of total mileage means they either cant drive stick or just launch the shit out of it. As for my car, i bought it at 150k km, its at 220k km now and i havent changed my clutch.

On the J32 in the TL you can take the trans out with dropping the engine or subframe but for a long time I believe no one had did it that way. Someone had a clip of them doing it but dropping it all seems like the best thing if you want to refresh the engine while it was out. Timing assembly/water pump. Is doable in the engine bay but man it kind of sucks.

Fun fact about Hybrid racing . I ordered their shifter assembly and when it arrived I got charged another $150 for delivery so I declined the package and sent it back . They informed me I had to pay another $75 for a restocking fee . I dispute it with visa and they lied to visa and said they never received the package back and that I had indeed signed for it and still had it . Visa found out shortly after that Derek from hybrid racing received and signed for the return and just wanted to scam me out of money because he wasn't getting paid another $75 to put a box back on the shelf ... 10/10 would recommend Acuity instead 👍

my 6 speed Maxima had a dual Mass flywheel and that thing was heavy. I switched to a JWT which is 14 lbs vs stock 32 lbs. I also put in an aluminum under drive main pulley.

Hey Gingium for next time you gotta do a FWD trans removal instead of dropping entire subframe just use longer bolts. I do it all the time at work doing flat rate hours, makes it way faster and easier let’s the the entire engine and subframe to hang low while still having mounts on and lift up in the air so you’re not working on the floor.

Just curious... I got into working on cars back in the 90s and I'd worked as a dealership mechanic at a few different dealerships up til I started selling cars. That being said is "breaking in a clutch" not a thing anymore? I remember hearing performance shops and other shops telling people not to Rev them out for like a few hundred miles before going all in slamming gears and such. Just curious if the technology has improved that much or is that just been forgotten? Again it's been since early 2000s since I paid the bills via turning wrenches so I'm honestly curious. Thanks for any genuine response

I'm actually not sure! I think most people still say to break in your clutch, but it might not be necessary. I definitely didn't on my last few clutches and they have all been fine.

you definitely should still bed-in the clutch and flywheel after a swap, same with pads and rotors. is it the end of the world if you don't? no, but a good clutch can last 100k miles and I'm not interested in having to re-do it in 20k

@@StanleyKubick1 My thoughts. I went easy on my 6-6 after swapping the clutch for 500 miles or so. Not looking to do it again for a long time lol
