That is absolutely amazing and beautiful so beautiful. I’ll be emailing you after the first of the month March 1 that is. Thank you for reaching out to me and replying to my comment on the last video. I have two late model red rider BB guns I would say maybe they’re seven or eight years old. I taught my kids how to shoot and the gun safety rules with these two Red Ryder BB guns. I’m going to keep one original but I’m going to upgrade my sons hopefully with one of your stocks. That’s amazing. I’ve also seen some videos where people have actually put four power Little scopes on them. I’m assuming those videos were from Asia or the pictures were from Asia. Didn’t look like the United States

Good Evening Shane, great videos, ran across them researching gun stock refurbs, I am tackling my first on an old shotgun. In regards to the process….is there any tips you can give as I search for wood dye and then the danish oil. Meaning, is there wood dye already mixed that is good for this application? Also, I don’t have a buffing wheel, any suggestions?

I am in the process of building a mandolorian inspired 111. I have made a muzzle from sheet steel and brass, but a stock would really be something. The long wing may even help stability!

There was a Mandolorian Buck 105B on Instagram about a year ago. Very complicated build with 3D printed components and it ended up a dead ringer.

I'm really impressed, Shane. But since I'm such an "off the wall" kind of guy, I can't help but wonder what a piece of crap wood might look like using a similar process? But, I do love that maple.
@RestOModDaisy2 жыл бұрын
Russ, "Crap" wood most likely would look better but you get to a point where you have to ask yourself if it's worth the effort. Daisy mostly used poplar for it's early guns on through to the transition to Chinese suppliers. The current guns come with some sort of Chinese hardwood that is at least as white as poplar before their stain is applied. I've run into one old Daisy with an oak stock and several #111 Model 40's that had walnut furniture. I've never seen one with a softwood factory stock like pine. Back when I started doing stocks for Daisy's I began by working with white pine 2x6's and chipping and tearout were real problems. The forearms were also prone to splitting where the wood gets thin so I stopped and went onto various hardwoods and finally settled on curly maple for my projects.

@@RestOModDaisy that sounds about right. The Chinese wood has practically no grain I can detect. I really think they don't invest much on stain either. I'll most likely be experimenting a little more later this year.

Nice now you need to do silver inlet.

Wow! That color change is really awesome...gorgeous! You mentioned buffing, do you use any kind of compound, ot just cloth
@RestOModDaisy3 жыл бұрын
Rex, After it's good and dry (3-5 days) I buff it on the bench grinder with a stiff-ish pad followed by a floppy one. I'll be doing a video on that process as soon as this stock is ready.

oops...that should read: or just cloth ? (sorry...rented fingers). I hadn’t considered wet sanding with Danish oil, must try, might help w/fill. I use it, but as a base under Tru-Oil or Poly (buffed w/DVD polish & flannel)
@RestOModDaisy3 жыл бұрын
Give the wet sanding a shot and see what you think. I never tried a top coat on it as I wanted the surface readily repairable in the event of a dent or ding from a young shooter with rented fingers dropping one. Rented fingers! I'll be using that in future.

Good day sir, i would like to ask if you can modified the modern red ryder power upto 400fps or more, thanks.
@RestOModDaisy3 жыл бұрын
The only guns I've modded that broke 400 FPS were two Daisy Model 111's that were pre 1978 bottlecaps. There are folks over on the High road forum that are working on a reliable 500 FPS Red Ryder so I would reccomend you head over that way and look up the "putting a little more power in a $15 Daisy thread". It's 62 pages of modding wonders and might help you achieve your goal.
