Finkelstein's Test for deQuervain's tenosynovitis

Test Procedure:
- Have patient grasp thumb in a fist and ulnarly deviate wrist (or examiner can assist).
Positive results:
- Pain (often exquisite) in the 1st dorsal compartment. Always compare with the uninvolved side, as this position can be somewhat uncomfortable in normal individuals.
Negative Results:
- No difference between arms (if only one arm is involved) or no sharp pain.
Implications of positive test result:
- deQuervain’s
