CFA won't help you that much to go and settle in abroad. It's not like it is completely impossible but in foreign country any employer will give first preference to those who are the citizens, the PR holders, fresh passouts from their country's college/university and then finally to those who are on work visa (or might have got PR) but with complete foreign education. So as per the hierarchy it becomes very difficult. The only thing which can help is to get the CFA charter and work for 7-8 years and accumulate as much capital as you can and then do a diploma, masters in finance or MBA from foreign college/University, then your CFA charter as well as Diploma or masters will both get counted to help you get a job.

I think cfa is good for ib roles coz cv ma showoff ho jayega the current booming field is private equity :) cfa plus caia is good . Although you are right cause as i research all the people in US or Europe dont do cfa to get into IB. They either do economics or get into really good ivy League school then further move on :) Same with Indian MBA:)

Investment banking is essentially sales. Believe it or not. CFA teaches you the BASICS of finance. But IB is a completely different beast. A successful salesman can get into investment banking any day, whether their technical skills are great or not.
