Saw a lady on a US K9 video .She is working to provide every dog with a padded coat to lessen damage. More and more dogs are benefitting from these .Finn's law + should be mandatory .Each dog is a serving officer ...Great video and will look for the book ..Good luck to all

Why don't British canine officers carry handguns when they're more likely to face armed assailants than regular officers? As a German I don't understand that.
@lucieirl2 жыл бұрын
@@johnfaire2359 gun crime is not very common in the UK so it would probably be viewed as unnecessary force. A criminal with a knife vs a policeman with a gun. Officers have stab proof vests and know what they’re going into, but the dogs don’t so this law helps protect them against harm. I think if the police started to use guns it would set a weird precedent in the UK. Atm the only people with guns are criminals, farmers, and military/defence mostly.

Here in New Zealand it is a criminal offense to harm a police dog. I wish the penalties were a lot higher but I'm relieved that the dog's right to safety is legally recognised in this country. 44C Killing or injuring police dogs (1)Every person commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to both who kills, maims, wounds, or otherwise injures a police dog without lawful excuse. (2)On the conviction of any person of an offence against this section, the Court may, in addition to any penalty imposed, order that person to pay to the Commissioner a reasonable sum for- (a)The treatment, care, rehabilitation, and retraining of the police dog; and (b)Where it is necessary to replace the police dog, the acquisition and training of its replacement.

I am so lucky to be the 3rd owner of Finntastic Finnomenal MagniFinncent Fun Finn FleaFinder. Nicknamed Thumper, his enthusiasm is contagious. As others have noted, Civilization would not have advanced without Dogs&Cats. The only attack mode he knows is Rats and Rabbits, both of which, I have seen him catch. Still, he would rather run in the surf, swim and retrieve. An amazing specimen and so well behaved!

I didn´t dare to watch this film for quite some time; not even what it actually´s about. Everything concerning the wellbeing of animals is difficult to handle for me, always was and will be. We ´ve got two dogs and especially our male Live Stock Guardian is the one helping me coping with depression and borderline. He´s the reason i´m still here. Every animal serving - no matter which force - is to be set equal to the human they´re working/living with. They don´t do it for any money, glory or whatever, but to be with their humans. Something many people should think about... 👮👷🐶🐴

6 Months for cruelty to a service dog or pets, that is a bloody disgrace, it should be 10 years and named, shamed and Banned from ever keeping an Animal again, plus tagged, so if they are caught with another dog or pet, they can be detained and questioned, Give me Animals before Humans, their love is Unconditional...

@@xandervk2371 Absolutely not how the handlers see them though. Believe me, we had an ex-handler come to cadets once and speak about his experience. How his dog saved his life but was killed by the criminal in the process and forever traumatised him. I am helping raise a 3 year old Silver Lab who seems as athletic as a German Shepard and I can imagine her putting herself in harms way for me (I’d do the same for her!). Animals can Love and express emotions but they have an innocence beyond human nature. They become as close as blood family and I believe when we lose them it teaches us how to grieve. Also I’ll never forget the special bond I had with my cat of 21 years and all he brought to my life - I got through his passing by remembering all the amazing time we had together. Using dogs and horses in law enforcement is what exposes them to harm in the first place. They have no choice, if you want to protect dogs, keep them out of harm's way. Defining any attack on service animals as NOT self defense is a ridiculous solution.
