It looks great. It's a shame that young people "can't" like these dances. Nobody will believe them if they do. I myself think it's beautiful. A hundred times better then the so called dancing you see in clubs these days.

Your comments were much appreciated by the group when I relayed them at our practice, thank you!, though I usually prefer the more up tempo dances to me the second slower one really captures that sense of pathos and melancholy you could imagine existed around the time of Finland's independence after a number of years of bitter civil war, you still see it today in many older finns, gives me a nice connection to my maternal grandparents who came to Canada just after this time

See some elements that are used in country square dancing and vaguely remember doing something like these when I was in an international folk-dance group ... hope to go back to that group in September. Love (Finnish) folklore and dance!

thanks for the kind words, it was our first time performing them in public and we were a bit nervous as it was a full house but it seemed to go over well with everyone

@TheBoza1234 Greetings from Tampere, Finland, Eu: first one is "Polka of (girl named) Elli". Second one is "Summer feelings" Helena (ancient greek name)-> Elin (scandinavian form) or Elina (finnish form) -> Elli (kind of nickname)

@peteliuz79 Yeah, this is very nice. This is one part of "Finnishness" that I can be happy about. (Too bad it's rather stagnant, but that's another story.) I saw this yesterday live in Järvenpää, where there was a dance revolution event, with dancers from a number of different local dance schools / activity groups present. I was there also, dancing Israeli folk dances (and also some dances from Yugoslavia, France, even Japan) with a small group led by dance teacher Jouni Pajunen.

Hi, I belong to a small Finnish community and teach at a school there. I am of Finnish heritage. I was wondering if we could borrow some of these moves and the music for our Christmas Event in December. Kiitos.

I kept staring at the Canada flag in the background like, 'I'm a Canadian.' then a guy coughed and I started laughing cuz it was more entertaining then the dance.
