Wow! Shadow knitting! How cool is that! About a year ago I found a book about shadow knitting at a used bookstore (Shadow Knitting by Vivian Høxbro). I still haven’t tried it. But now that I see your example I think it’s time! Thanks for the inspiration!

I want to share a recipe that I have been enjoying for zucchini . Scoop out the e seeds , chop into cubes, put into a pot and cover with water. Throw in some garlic . Add a little olive oil, and bring up to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, add a very generous handful of fresh basil. Let it simmer for one more minute. Drain it and put it into the blender or use a hand blender add a little more olive oil, fresh lemon juice and salt and pepper. Once you have it blended to the consistency you like, put it on pasta and top with Parmesan . It is so fresh and delicious.

Hi Jana! How nice to see you again - and my bag too! You are so very kind always mentioning it. I am happy to hear you had a great holiday and of course you were welcome by the local knitters. We all love you, from the 4 corners of the earth. I love your collar. So fun. I am knitting the Campanella shawl with the idea of using it a bit as a collar. Happy knitting dear Jana xx

Oh, Jana! When you were talking about shadow shawl, I literally paused this video, followed the link, bought the pattern for Rose Shadow Shawl, went to sleep (it was pretty late), next day (today) went to do some life routine outside, pop to the craft shop, bought the wool, came back home, feed the kids and started knitting the shawl 😂 now I am on round 100 and remembered I haven't finished your video 😂 so, here is my answer to what I think of shadow knitting 😂 i actually made a blanket for my baby daughter 16 years ago using this technique. Thank you for reminding me about it, I love it ❤

First! I love your advent wrap 😍 and collar...I have mohair staring at me saying, "...well? Make me into something like this collar!" 😊 Thank you for the suggestion ❤ I totally dig your "no pattern" vibe. I just completed a top made of lion brand coboo without a pattern. I don't like the colors I chose nor am I satisfied with the top. It's crochet fillet stitch. I went to store and picked up two more cakes and am going to take out the scallop hem then finish it out to a dress (inspired by you) 😁. Then dye it black. Shadow knitting is so very cool 😎!!! ❤❤❤ I look forward to see your asymmetrical (?) "Fox On the Run" shawl as you progress. Your friends are most generous ❤ exchanging gifts and all. What an amazing trip you had! We had a class 1 tornado hit 3 blocks away from me. I feel your pain with your squall passing through your lands. Super scary!! Love to you and yours. Maybe you'll have some time to recoup and relax! ❤❤❤

Lovely to hear about your travel to Riga. Nice Podcast once again. As to Zucchini, i love to add Zucchini to any kind of Pasta (fine stripes and cooked with the pasta) and add any sauce...they blend in and rise the amount of veggies instead of carbs...my favorite sauces for that are a lemon sage creamy sauce or gorgonzola sauce...

Just my opinion but I think you should cast on your autumn knits now and save finishing your summer knits for early spring or even late winter. Our kids go back to school today after 5 weeks - it's 32°C and they will be going to the pool with their classes this afternoon lol And I am already starting on heavier knits, the summer ones will have to wait, now, but it's sooo hot. Your collar is cute, though I have to smile as it gives me retro hairdresser vibes :) I like bright colours. Riga looks beautiful - I have one of those Latvian mitten kits, had it for years, but I had to get 1.5mm needles to make it and it's sooo daunting... My own holidays start this week, we are going north to sail which I'm really looking forward to, not so hot - and we are lucky we can take our dog with us, she is happier to be with us. Not always possible ofc but since we got the boat we haven't had to leave her with anyone else. re. Zucchini - I just saw something that you can use them like apples with cinnamon and sugar as a chunky pie filling; I haven't tried it yet but really want to know what it's like :o Chatting with you is always fun, no wonder you are so popular!

Jana, I loved this episode. I was knitting on the Sabai no. 1 top in Sandnes Garn Line and like you I am going to finish up this and my other summer knits before diving into the Fall/Winter knits. I have several projects waiting in the wings, some are WIPs from last year that I want to wrap up + some new cast ons. But there is one key WIP I must complete within the next couple weeks and that is an emotional support chicken that I am making for a friend. I giggled when you spoke of the inordinate amount of zucchinis. I am forbidden from growing them as I had a bumper crop of zucchini a couple years ago and my family has not recovered from the zucchini-a-palooza. lol. This year its beans and cucumbers that are dominating our gardens.

We love to do pickled zucchinis with a “dressing” of vinegar and sugar and a bit of pepper corns - warm the vinegar until the sugar disolves and put the sliced zucchinis (remove the seeds) in a jar and pour the vinegar over and put it in the refigerator. Amazing on the side for a roast or on rye bread with a paté 😋 Greetings from Denmark

There is a feel of autumn in the air today and even back in the70’s everyone was trying to get rid of their zucchini . There was a Zucchini chocolate cake recipe that’s probably still kicking around and also Ratatouille was another good one. I love the shadow knitting, hope you show it finished, I love, love foxes so the Fox bag is gorgeous, lucky you🥰. Dogs often get depressed and off their food when their family is away, especially if there are children because they feel like they need to look out for them and don’t know if they are ok. Hopefully you being home is the cure. 🤞 We still have about 3 weeks before the kids go back to school so no doubt school shopping will take up a lot of that time. Grandson goes to Junior High this year so careful planning for cool clothes, sneakers, and gear is necessary. 😂🤣. Take care, be safe and well. 🙋🏼♀️🥰

I have 2 test knits on the go right now. 1 sweater and 1 cardigan. (truthfully I have only gotten as far as the swatch for the cardigan). They both have new to me techniques and I couldn't resist because I am weak. :). I have never done shadow knitting nor have I seen it in real life. It looks beautiful! We also have so many zucchini's have you ever used them in cake? I have a recipe for chocolate zucchini cake that is incredible. It was my husband's Aunts recipe and it is a family favourite. If you are interested I am happy to send it to you. I also feel like summer has escaped me this year. We always go camping but haven't gone out this year yet. We may not make it out as although the days are warm the nights are starting to get cold and we are in a tent. My mid 50's body does not want to sleep outside when it is only 5 degrees (I live in Alberta Canada near the rockies so it is colder at night) haha. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I really appreciate them. They are like a visit with a friend. I wonder if you realize the impact you have on peoples lives with these? They are a welcomed addition to my weekend. Your vacation sounds lovely. Thank you for sharing the videos. All the best to you, I hope you have a wonderful week.

We have a small air strip/airport in our town, Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA, for radio controlled model airplanes and probably helicopters also. If you are at one of two traffic lights and the planes are flying, it makes sitting at the red light more enjoyable. It would also be a good place for people to learn to fly drones.
