I really like the the raglan tee you are wearing; it goes so well with that lovely skirt. [Being American, I had to laugh at "autumn" vs. "fall"!!! I always enjoy word-of-the-day in both Finnish and Latvian!] I love the way your birthday cast-ons help you reshape your birthdays into happy, loving, exciting times--to celebrate your own self. May I say that I am so glad that you exist--and through your casts have become a part of my life. Cool possibilities for the new one!

36:09 if you want colours to pop out, I would go with black for background. Such bright colours always look even brighter on black. Dark purple is pretty aswell, but i think it will be less contrast ❤

Hi Jana, I have chosen between your yarns for birthday cast on. I would definitely gowith your no cream no sugar yarn. It is a pretty soft shade, bud it contrasts enough with the colorfull yarns for patterns. I think black would be too harsh. But its just my opinion, you know... and one more thing. I found lovely knitted blanket pattern on this site. Sorry, it doesnt copiied here. The site name is mamainastich and the pattern name is woven blanket.

Happy birthday!! 🎉🎉 Oh yes, Stephen Wests knit along, I do it every year as well and slipstravaganza was also my first! You’ll like my yarn choices, I have some lovely neons 😂 I will see you on the k2p2 festival, so much fun! ❤ I’m knitting a marled magic dress by Mr west as well , in a lilac held with pink, like your new cast on. I think I’m going to wear it to the festival if I can finish it on time. I would go for either black or charcoal grey. On the screen your black looks like charcoal grey and it looked pretty good!

Enjoy your birthday! The fungi sweater is the perfect birthday cast-on, I think. I do love Spincycle! On my computer monitor your skeins look quite striking with the black yarn. Or perhaps a very dark charcoal gray or purple. I found it quite humerous that you don't have two skeins of fingering yarn in your stash for the mkal, being a yarn shop owner and dyer, with what looks like a pretty good size stash. I was kicking myself for the same problem, lots of pretty single skeins of fingering that I fell in love with and had to have, but not two of the same color I could use. So of course I had to buy more yarn. I now have about 6 possibilities. I will swatch and see what I like best.

great podcast, again ❤ I enjoy listening to your voice and to your stories. it always makes me wanting to knit more… 🧶 for your project: colours pop the best against pitch black, or pure white. all other colours give a muted contrast. so it depends what you prefer. for your garden: look around the naibours gardens, ask them what grows well in this climate, take pictures so you can see and compare how the plants look when they are not blooming. and keep notes of the time/season of the flowers. this helps to choose where to plant and close to what other plants to put them. happy birthday love from 🇨🇭

Yes, a lot of things flower at the same time of the year. The best research you can do to find out what to plant is to learn for yourself. Spend a year with a simple monthly diary in hand walking around your environment. Walk once a month at roughly the same time and list areas, streets, wilderness where you see something thriving. This is only 12 walks. Very doable, so make them long and find out what the good looking or thriving plants are, where they are and what conditions they are in. Eg.. Someone's tended garden or pretty surprise in the wilderness. Did something find some sand or soil or weird stuff to grow from? Is something in full sun or does it get some shadow? You'll learn a lot by taking a monthly long walk around the same areas and writing what you see in your diary. Then you can find out what things are if you are not sure and grow them for yourself to get that extended period of loveliness.

Dear Jana, thank you for another lovely podcast! Your tee looks great on you - i dye yarn ( mostly for myself) and want to experiment with that neon-tweed; my supplier for undyed yarn don‘t have any at the moment, but hopefully they will restock soon. Love the assigned pooling too, i knitted two shawls with the floret/cluster-stitch D.Barker invented ( she has a tutorial on youtube) and i‘m currently on a third one 😉. I managed to dye the short section in rainbow colors on a navy background and i love it. Your projects are always beautiful and i enjoy all the colors, inspriration and your personality a lot ❤ Have a nice weekend and a great birthday 🌈 Greetings from Switzerland, Hanna 🇨🇭

I don‘t usually knit with thick yarns/needles but your seat pads would be such a nice housewarming gift for my daughter and family who have a garden for the first time and like to be in the forest!! Question: do you put the pads in the machine together when felting, or individually? I‘m afraid they might felt together or fibres from one felt into another pad…

I read yesterday in Sally Coulthard’s new book ‘The Wildlife Year ‘ that in the 16th century the season was known as Autumn or The fall of the leaf. The settlers in America took with them the phase The fall of the leaf. Over the years this has become ‘The Fall’ Don’t know whether anyone else is interested in that piece of info but I found it interesting.
