I always loved heavy music from late 90s to 2000s, especially all of the individual scenes around the US. But I always felt the inner drive to search for something that would blow my mind, but didn't know what. As lame as it might be, but those early deathcore bands just hit differently...the merging of so many sub-genres into a refreshed Sound

You inspired a lot of hope in myself Chris. That was badass. Hearing you say refer to your younger self as someone who ".couldn't even talk.." . Then to address where that stems from. Insecurity, anger etc. Resonates deeply. Gotta create something. Appreciate your honesty. Anecdote: 1998 Pico Rivera. I'm at my cousins place, I'm 7. We go to his friends pad across the street. His name is Chris. Starts playing Deicide as soon as we step inside. My life changed that day. R.I.P Chris

His nervousness throughout was actually extremely calming. You just know he's trying be himself in a world full of carbon copy mouth breathers.

What a sad story about mitch in the hospital dying. I remember seeing SS at a small club in my town in Maine. Mitch dove off the stage on like the first song. He cracked his head on the floor, never missed a beat. He got back on stage and his head was gashed open and he was bleeding all over the stage. He performed the entire set like that. Had to be at least 10 songs. LEGEND!! R.I.P.

Garza is a living legend, but it's easy to forget just how incredibly influential his music and his attitude have been on the deathcore scene from the start because he's such a chill and humble dude. I've rubbed shoulders with him at local IE metal shows and he's happy to just be one of us. "The Cleansing" will also be an album close to my heart because of him and Mitch. \m/

Wore my RIP mitch shirt to my first SS concert I was at the barricade for and both Mark and Garza pointed at me and put their hands over their heart. Ended up getting Dan Kenny's bass pick. Provided me with the best soundtrack to my school experience as a teenager and still jam every record still regularly. Love his podcast too

I was extremely fortunate to have played with SS on the Cleansing CD Release Show in Fredericksburg, VA. We ran into the guys behind the venue amd the next thing i know, Im sitting in their van with the entire band smoking the cheebas for like two hours straight. Some of the absolute best people ive ever met in the world! Mitch and the rest of the guys treated us just like we’d been on tour with them for the last month! A local, but not directly local, band fanning out and wanting to share my Trainwreck and Jack Herer woth some of the coolest people on the planet. People that I genuinely looked up to, and was inspired by. I know you probably don’t remember this, but its a memory ill never forget!! Love you guys ❤

Goes to show that basically the top gun of Death Metal absolutely loves hardcore and talks about his love for New York punk/hardcore. Isn't prejudice towards the newer guys in deathcore like all the other twats who seem to shit on anybody who's in the next generation of heavy music and knows talent and cool dudes when he sees it. I love to hear they're good friends and coming together as humans and through the music also.

Been a fan of SS since the early Myspace days. The first deathcore band I ever heard, I remember putting your songs on my profile to feel like the biggest badass, because that what I felt like listening to SS!! Since then i've seen you at warped tour, large venues, and small club shows. Shoutout to Garza, and the rest of the camp, keep rocking 4L

Finn, this is one of the best interviews I've ever seen of anyone. Chris being his vulnerable self and giving him that space to open up and share the deepest and truest feelings and keeping it real is so valuable and I have even more respect for him and Suicide Silence now. We hardly ever get to see this side of the person on that level and the world is lacking realness now a days. Being in a band myself, I could relate to so many of those things and made Chris look like an actual human being. This is GOLD standard stuff. The world needs more talks like these and come together as a community and deal with problems in the correct away. And man, next time I meet Chris, he's getting a big hug and showing my appreciation. Hands down to your efforts. Let's keep this going, Cheers!

Good Job Finn :) I appreciate you at least trying to get an answer about Alex. The band seemed so happy when they toured with Jinjer last year, I saw them live in person in St. Pete Fla. All the tour vlogs seemed like they were having a blast together & on the final one it was a lovefest! So he's saying drugs? I don't see how Tati would be with a destructive person like that? Oh Well he's back behind the kit again, gonna be playing for POD on Jinjer's US tour this fall/winter!

Heres the thing you can be super positive all you want but it boils down to if the music is good! The "everyone gets a trophy" analogy like most things certainly doesnt apply to music!
