Problem with depression is that, if you have it long enough it becomes ever harder to get out of it. I know that, thanks to the stigma and just general disbelief of people around me when I started to get really depressed, I went around with suicidal thoughts and whatnot for years without treatment. And thanks to depression and anxiety being the norm for so long, it is now the default setting of my brain. The neural pathways are built in such a way that actually changing it is hard fucking work, and every step forwards can easily be met with two steps backwards due to circumstances completely out of my control. I literally spent years having so many panic attacks that my life/ family/ future/ friendships were all on the brink of destruction. Then of course I resorted to self medicating and that brought me down to an even lower more depraved place towards the end when I couldn’t find oxy anymore and started mixing meth and heroin. Honestly, the best nights I have out are always the ones where I find a guy with band merch on that I cant read and we start talking about all the different nuances of metal music. But I also live in Montana where metalheads have to find each other and stick close. We're forced to be extroverted lol

The best way to defeat social anxiety is to just go talk to someone. 9/10 times people are receptive. Especially if it's clear you already have something in common.

Where I live, when people know I listen to metal, they always ask the same two questions.... "You listen to loud music? But you don't dress like it?" "So, you are a metalhead? Metallica and stuff like that, right?"

Well, the music scene here in Hungary is something else entirely, so most of the time i can't relate to the things you say(ex: "your old uncle who likes 80's trash and owns an old Nokia"), but i get your intentions which are good. Anyway, i tend to distance myself from the metal community nowadays since i discovered the enormous amount of toxicity towards bands and fans who are "posers", also outgrew my pop hate phase which is also good when i'm with my "normie" friends (lol) who mainly listen to Pop and club music (by that i mean remixes). Fortunately my friends are nice and understanding and don't diss my music taste. As for anxiety and depression.... i haven't find a way to cope with those yet. Even when i don't agree with you at some points i still love your content and watch your videos Finn, keep up the good work.

I'm glad you gave advice and didn't mock him. Good on you. Its tough being a young awkward man. Sensible advice would help a lot of peoples mental health.

I got super into metal cause it felt like I was finding new bands all the time and that made me feel special, until I discovered every genre is just a search away now a day's.

Finn: criticizes the major problem in the metal community of hating on people for liking specific bands Also Finn: proceeds to criticize someone for listening to Metallica simply on the grounds of them being old contributing to another problem in music

I am fine with arguing on the Internet but I don't do it much about something as subjective as art and music. Kinda pointless.
