pro tip: make sure you actually use a screwdriver, and actually be GENTLE. i thought “it’s alright it can take a hit” and instantly regret it. it was also the CTRL key.

I'm about to try, I'm having a little issue finding if its hotswapable. I wanna clean it and I wanna know if I can customize the switches. Its being compared to a similar budget board that has removable switches so signs questionably point to yes lol.

Thank you soo much, I didnt need to get new switches. My "w key" was broken and I used a spoon to try and remove the switch and when I put everything back it started working.

I'm sure you've learned this by now since this is a 2 year old video... But you should position the switch puller 90 degrees from what you now have! The switch puller has those feet sticking out to push-in the clips of the switch that are located on the top and bottom of the switch. Then you shouldn't even have to use any force! :}

Perfect, thanks! I have an old broken keyboard using the same switches as my current one and one of its keys got stuck down. Upon removing the keycap, the switch is bent and damaged. Now I can recycle a switch from my old keyboard to fix it.

Honestly i used the handle of a fork u can also use the handle of a spoon( make sure they are flat and not round) or a dull knife if u dont wanna use anything else or u have the tool (fingers also work)

if u use a screw driver dont put it at the corner of the switch put it in the middle where there is a little pin thing to push in to get out the switch easier

Thanks for this video Finn! I'm getting a soldering iron and desoldering pump today and some other stuff for that. The problem is, the switch puller's tracking is delayed so I needed a method to pull out the switch without a switch puller. Also I would maybe clarify that it would be easier to have a hot swappable board but can be done with a desoldering iron if you don't have a hotswappable pcb. Anyways, thanks for this video, this will help out my future self

I really don't understand how to use the screw driver I ligit used all my strength and it still wouldn't come out (yes ik they said to be gentle but it wouldn't even budge) and my keyboard came with replace ment switches but I lost the puller that came with it it this is my only free option and its giving me a hard tine any tips?

Maybe if it was a butter knife, don’t break your switches though…

you can try this with a protractor since it kind of works you just need to wiggle down the edge of the protractor into the bottom of the switch and slowly push up and do it on the other side a few times until you think its loose and you can just plop it right out.
